Tried watching Borgia: Blood and Fear (aka, the other series about the Borgias that came out last year) and made it through about 30 minutes.
Like:
-Very nice costumes and production values.
-Looks like, in terms of technicalities, it's more loyal to history.
-The actress who played Oksana in Missing showed up for about 4 seconds in a flashforward, I assume as Sancia.
Did not like:
-Lucrezia and Giulia hate each other. Giulia stabs Lucrezia with a needle.
-Rodrigo utters every words like he's making the most important, world changing speech ever. Which may be how the actor chose to portray Rodrigo's ambition, but i helped make him very dull. I mean, Jeremy Irons is a lecherous douche in The Borgias, but he's an ENTERTAINING lecherous douche. This guy comes across as being meant to be larger than life, but...not.
-Strongly disliked the treatment of Vannozza, and am leery of what seems to be the direction they'd go with her if they bothered to do anything with her.
-Cesare is a rather bland prettyboy.
-It seems to really like its gratuitous sex and nudity.
Most of the not likes had room to improve and normally I'd stick it out a bit longer to see if it got better for me, even if just because of my interest in the source material, but I mostly just found it dull. Nice to look at, but dull.
(Sad, because I'd actually expected to really like it.)
