meganbmoore: (legend- ho gae and kiha)

I watched these eps streaming over a period of 3 days. As I can only tolerate streaming for about 15-20 minutes at a time, I’m afraid my few thoughts are rather scattered and disjointed.

Most of these eps were the “middle” of the typical fantasy trilogy. Forming alliances, wiping out most of the things in the way, moving everyone in place for the final arc and establishing their roles in the grand scheme. Uhm…very frankly, the middle part of a fantasy trilogy tends to be the least interesting.

That Chuh Ro was the demon lord was no surprise, but the arc was rather fun. Now that he’s human again, he seems to be studying very, very hard at the school for tall, dark and handsome heroes. He is also amazingly ok with drunk 17 year olds hanging all over him.

Speaking of ages…Chuh Ro looks like he’s in his mid-20s, which is about right for the character, Sujini looks about 19-20, so 17 is easy for me, but Dam-Duk and Ho Gae as 17 year olds? Not only do they look much older, but neither remotely ACTS like a 17-year-old, either. (Sujini comes across as being about 18 to me.)

I have to say, while Sujini has outgrown the “normal feisty fantasy heroine” role for me and come into her own, Dam-Duk really hasn’t. While I like him, the only time in these episodes that he really stood out to me beyond “good hero” was when he admitted that he wasn’t always as certain or confident as he acted, he just had to act that way because it was what was expected of the king.

I am, though, very glad that Kiha is finally starting to do things, instead of pretty much be an object to be used/held apart, and/or be misunderstood. Granted, she started down that path by killing the Oracle, who I quite liked, but beggars can’t be choosers. And I was right about the Dam-Duk/Kiha baby. I would have been disappointed otherwise. Looks like we’re also finally getting to the “Kiha and Sujini are sisters” reveal. And the scene with her an Ho Gae after the attacks the Oracle? The whole “I want your soul.” “Ok.” “Then I’ll through it and you when I’m through.” “Ok.” “By the way, kill Dam-Duk for me?” “Ok. This mean you’ll send someone to off me later on?” “Probably.” Whatever. Mind doing it yourself?” (no dear, that’s what she has Sa Nyang for) bit? Oddly awesome in wrong yet right ways.

I continue to adore Jumuchi’s crush on Dalbi, and his refusal to admit she’s “his woman.” (I’m sorry, dear, but when everyone who knows you assumes it’s material for casual conversation, you lose.) I also adore the lord of Julno, especially when he decides to adopt Sujini so he can marry her off to Dam-Duk. No one approves of their Sujini being married off to Dam-Duk. (Poor Dam-Duk…he already has enough to worry about without that being added to it.)
