SDK: a (late in the series) scene of shippiness

Yes, still on Samurai Deeper Kyo.  To explain the current obsessive mode:  I've loved SDK since I started reading manga.  Normally it sits around in the recesses of my mind as loved and "Whhhhiiiinnnnneeee...when will Tokyopop put out the next SDK?"  Every once in a while, though, an extremely awesome volume will come out and make me go nuts...like volume 21, which very much solidified Hotaru's awesomeness and his status as my 4th favorite in the series(the central cast makes Rurouni Kenshin's look small, and it will take and act of God to supplant Kyo, Yuya and Akira from their positions)  And hey, any book that makes a story about a bunch of battle crazed nuts(and the girl the most homicidal of them dragged along for the ride) who define friendship as "don't let anyone else kill you before I can" work gets the win.  Plus the awesome(if messed up and rather unconventional) OTP.

Anyway, a scene of shippiness with very large scans.

But first...Yuya...sweetie...WHAT are you WEARING???  Never let the bad guy dress you again.  Ever.  Moving on...


But first...my beloved psychopaths are having a little trouble with what look to be Evil Aka no Ou Troops.  Hotaru needs to just make them go crispy.  But then...I gather they've been doing this non-stop for quite a while...


Kyo, dear, these scissors, your hair and I need to have a little chat...  But EEE!!!! Face touching(and from Kyo, who's essentially incapable of tenderness)


HUGGING!!!  Kyo needs to react faster next time, though...


BTW, the 1 page doujinshi where the entire cast tells them to shut up and just have sex already takes place right about here...

Have I ever mentioned that heroines having utterly unshakable faith in their OTPs even if(especially if) the guy doesn't understand why is one of my really really big shippy things?  Also, the fact that Kyo is being so nice(AND CHECKING FOR INJURIES!!!) and hasn't tried one pervy thing(man never passes on an opportunity) is amazing?  I'm thinking Kyoshiro's Yuya-napping stunt seriously freaked him out...or a more recent Yuya-napping...And of course, he's flashing back to all the times she's been hurt because of him and she's clueless about how much it bothers him...


And then the stupid bad guy interrupted my shippy scene...


Kyo does not approve of the interruption either.  Please note the hands in the second half...


Yes Kyo, you do that...then go make babies with Yuya.  After you do something about that hair.

Heehee, no, not Tukugawa soldiers. They show up in no. 304, and they're not on the side you'd think they'd be ... those guys in this chapter are Aka-chan's "blood soldiers."

Aka-chan's taste in clothing is distinctly kinky (I think Yukimura had him figured out several volumes back ...). Have you taken a good look at what he's wearing himself on no. 302, pp. 2-3? Oh, it covers him, but ... .

I'm somewhat in shock that Kyo's not even thinking about taking advantage of the outfit...though...he did forget to be pervy around vol 17-18 when Bon and Akira tossed her out of the hole. Of course, she noticed he was behaving and so he reverted to form.

Yeah, when Sanada first posted the translations of the chapter where Aka-chan first put Yuya into this little outfit, the crew on love_deeper were all taking bets on whether Kyo would be able to keep his hands off of her (that was before my time, but I found it in the community archives) ... of course, he's been kind of busy since then. And then this stuff happened ... ;-) ... .

Though...if I'm following things correctly, isn't this thew first time they've been together since Kyoshiro's Yuya-napping stunt? Maybe he's just making sure no potentially mortal wounds are going to pop back open before he gets down to business.

Lessee ... chapter 297.

Aka-chan has just basically stated that he intends to destroy everything and everybody, and has decided that as part of this, he needs to secure Yuya's cooperation as his new seer (he's a little confused about that). So he magically showers her with gifts ... and a new outfit. You first see her in the silly thing on p. 5 of that issue.

Yes, it's the first time Kyo's been that close to her since she was injured and Kyoushirou carried her off. There are several separate plotlines running for a while there, with different parties of people running amok through the Mibu palace and the Red Tower. Kyo first catches sight of Yuya up on the balcony with Aka-chan in no. 288, but it takes him a while to get up there ... .

Yeah, I've read about Aka-chan confusion there...someone needs to tell him that Yuya doesn't have psychic powers, just OTP faith powers like any good manga DID.

That while to get up there bit...yeah...that's my one complaint about SDK...I love the fights, but they have a bad habit of lasting a bit longer than they should...for me at least.

LOL. If you read all the comments(though it may have actually been @ chomiji's lj instead) once I adjusted, I decided she looked cute in the outfit and the hair was hot.
