meganbmooreBeing a proper Supporting Retard Shounen Hero, River decides to becomes buddies with Train by trying to punch his head off and making Train try to shoot him. He then expresses their newfound friendship by declaring that he and Train are rivals and he will devote himself to beating Train…after they take down Creed. Certain shounen standards must be honored. River is lucky I often like them kinda dumb and singleminded in manga.
“Glasses Guy,” aka “Glin,” OTOH, I’m not as fond of. A little too “tee-hee” scheming for my tastes. (I’m so sick and tired of the tee-hee schemers in manga…I don’t think they’d bother me so much if the fandoms didn’t always flock to them and declare them the best thing ever.) That said, “Glin” is a façade, and his “normal” self(I forget his name) I like better. We also get a new crop of sweepers going after Creed. Many are clearly red shirts, as evidenced by two being offed by the end of the volume.
There was also Glin’s game/test to join his sweeper team. It was long and mostly only worthwhile for Eve being Eve and Eve and Train being cute. I would have rather had more of Rinslet helping Sven train, though, or even the full scene of Rinslet sending Eve the message to use Train as a shield if things got bad.
