 1.  Canada has cancelled Bomb Girls.  Canada is mean.  But Continuum is back?

2.  I have started watching the 2006 version of Fox Volant of Snowy Mountain.  I'm at the very beginning, with the obligatory backstory about the hero's parents.  While the hero's dad is engaged in a duel to the death, his mom yells that she's in labor and the other guy calls a ceasefire and is all "Yeah, dude, you better go take care of that.  Kill you tomorrow, k?"  Only in wuxia.

3.  There are finally kdramas I want to watch airing again-Nine, Gu Family Book,  and Jang Ok Jung-and I can't decide if I want to start them now or wait until they've finished to start them.  (I think Nine is actually almost over.)  The xxxHolic jdrama is also apparently completely subbed now, though I can't imagine how they'd adapt that.  Guess I'll find out.

4.  For the curious, I think Deception and Defiance are the only ones of the shows that I mentioned the other day that I think I'll check out for now, though I might check a couple others out on DVD.

5.  Revolution fandom and it's endless AUs where Charlie promptly dies and another 60% of the cast apparently disappears so the show can be all about white dudes having adventures can GTFO already.  (I mean, it's not all bad, but still.)

1. Seriously? I'm only halfway through the first season but that really sucks. :(
5. Urgh, if anyone had to die in a fanfic I'd rather see Miles and Aaron die while Charlie and Nora take over the show. Of course, I already have a bad feeling that either Miles or Rachel will die in the finale as a redemption act.

5. I admit, on certain levels, I now look at the show in terms of wasted opportunities to kill Aaron. They're definitely going to kill someone in the finale, but I really hope it isn't Rachel or Miles, if for no other reason that the fact that Charlie has already have 2 parents and a brother literally die in her arms, on top of not knowing if her mother was dead or alive for half her life. Leave the kid alone already. I'm holding out for either Monroe or Aaron (preferably Aaron) to bite it. They don't seem to know what to do with either of them anymore, and may just be keeping them around for the most dramatic moment to kill them. Sadly, it'll probably be Julia.

1. SO DAMN SAD about this one. Such a fantastic series and they really deserved another season. Also, the whole 'tv movie to wrap it up' deal...yeah, I'll believe that when it's actually airing, not before.


5. Ugh, this fandom...it's certainly not the worst I've been in but I do not care for it. I'm also getting very concerned that they might kill Nora off in the finale. She's been such a background player in every episode since the break and with Charlie honing her fighting skills and Jason joining the rebels...idk, it seems like the writers might not see a point to her anymore. Whereas the actual character with no point/no direction is Aaron. I feel like he was introduced to be the comic relief but Miles has better one-liners and if they'd give Elizabeth Mitchell some snarky dialogue, she would make a MEAL out of it. (Something she proved many times over in Lost.) Monroe is also rather pointless and I really hope the season ends with Neville killing him and taking over the Monroe Republic. Hell, he can even change the name to Neville-Land for all I care :)

I think I read somewhere that Monroe wasn't meant to be around for long, but they expanded his role because of his popularity. But they pretty obviously don't know what to do with him or Aaron. And I want to know who deliberately sets off cross country through even more dangerous territory than what we've seen so far, with only Aaron for company. I mean, he went with Charlie, but she knew considerably less about what was out there than anyone in the cast does now, and she was going on a much shorter trip to find someone who, according to her father, would be able to protect her, and Aaron invited himself along for that. Why not ask someone actually useful, like Jim, Nicholas or Nora, to come along? (I'd list Jason as an option, but I suspect Miles would flip out over that suggestion. He seems to be doing good with managing "I'll trust you to protect my niece in battle when I'm still close to keep an eye on you" at this point.)

I haven't seen yesterday's episode yet, but in the first 3 episodes back, I had the feeling that Nora's relative backgroundness was because they were getting in relationship development with Rachel while they could.

You can definitely see that with Monroe. I think they had a basic idea of what to do with him up until his episode 10 confrontation with Miles but now it seems like they're just flailing. And Aaron...I haven't ever seen the point of him. His only real purpose in the beginning was to carry the pendant and that's over now. I hope once he sees his wife again, they writers will realize they have wrapped everything up with him and just kill him off.


This week, most of the characters took a back-seat so that wasn't Nora-specific. I think the next few episodes will be more of a tell but in at least one of them, Nora is kidnapped and I'm hoping it's not just to give Miles angst. It would be the perfect opportunity to reveal more of Nora's back-story and if they don't, I'm going to be very annoyed.

I think I've finally been burned so badly by Revolution fandom and its fic that I've successfully quit trying to read any.
