These two shows are pretty much my main TV happy places right now, if for different reasons.
Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries continues to delight me at almost every turn. This season, they aren't trying to cram an entire book into one episode, and instead the episodes are based on short stories and original material. It's better that way, I think.
I don't have anything particularly spoilery to say, but I'm glad they seem to have picked up on Dot's popularity in the first season and are giving her more stuff to do (not that she was exactly lacking in the first season) and that, while it doesn't always actually succeed, I feel it still actively attempts to avoid the faily interpretations of female characters and their interactions that most shows do without thinking.
Also, I love Phryne's face every time she sees a sports team. "All these strapping ,half dressed, sweaty young men? Just for me? Let me make a list."
Then there's tonight's Sleepy Hollow, which is the last episode until November.
-HA HA What other show has has middle English, time-travelling Oxford scholars turned soldier turned apocalypse averter, and Roanoke? And the Mills sisters.
-Really, I figured they would be able to resist Roanoke, but I wasn't expecting it so soon. But am I really supposed to believe that Abbie has never heard of Roanoke?
-LOLs at Irving and how he SO hates this weirdness, but as long as Abbie and Ichabod are getting things done, no one is allowed to question it.
-Shades of Continuum with Abbie's ex investigating Ichabod's cover story and being told it's real.
-Ichabod was such a show off this week. And a bit extra-prissy. I think his eternal losing battle against modern inventions is wearing him down.
-Apparently there's already a ton of Katrina bashing over this episode? Dudes, she's his wife. I mean, I'm all for Abbie/Ichabod down the road, but do people really expect him to instantly be over Katrina?
-Though I will say that Katrina can't pull off the overly dramatic speech like Ichabod can. Probably because she wants to shout "GET ME THE HELL OUT OF HERE ALREADY!"
-Also, Moloch apparently took Katrina's conditioner away. Tsk.
-I was very surprised that the herb the little girl tried to give Abbie didn't come up again.
-After all the "Lookit these skillz Ichabod has that modern people totally don't!" I was very happy that Abbie was the one who figured things out in the end and saved the day.
-Was that Jennie AND an Abbie/Katrina interaction I spotted in the preview? WHY ISN'T IT NOVEMBER 4TH?
I can't quite recall what I did with my Monday nights before I had this super ridiculous gothic show to wallow in.
