Haven 4.5-4.8, Sleepy Hollow 1.5
Nov. 4th, 2013 11:24 pmHaven gives me such incredibly mixed feelings. some of the things it does, I love. and some make me bitter about the things I love because they keep me from dropping it for the fail.
-Like killing Jordan. WHY SHOW WHY DID YOU DO THAT. Like, I was in such denial that I was actually going "wait, maybe Wade has her locked up somewhere..." They were giving her character growth! She was amybe progressing! And then, nope. Also, I kept feeling like they were hinting at something with her and Dwight this season (not necessarily romantic, just maybe a friendship/partnership that was offscreen, possibly during the 6 month gap?) but they never did anything with it. But really, I was hoping the show was finally over that.
-I'm glad audrey is back, but also wouldn't have minded more of Lexie. and am not pleased with Nathan seeming to think he can pick and choose what parts of her are ok. Like, I think Agent Howard/whoever/whatever chooses women who are similar to Audrey's original self to copy, and that after a while, the original personality takes over and they're all actually the same person, but under different circumstances and from different backgrounds.
-I feel the last couple episodes were...not full of bad or unnecessary drama, but drama I just wanted it to move on from.
-There sure are a lot of previously unknown relatives popping up this season. Ok, just The Rev's nephew's and Wade (though Duke mentions other Crockers in the latest episode) but I'm rather wondering at that.
-So, at this point, I'm convinced that Jennifer is Arla and James's daughter, particularly given that she sees the signs and that the box from her supposed biological parents had that book, and hope that doesn't mean that she ends up doing a sacrifice or somethinginstead of Audrey.
-Also, Jennifer, i know that Eric Balfour is nothing to turn your nose up at and that Duke has the whole "angsty bad boy with a heart of gold" thing going, but I feel hopping in his bed can only lead to bad things. (Though, if she is Audrey's granddaughter, that could lead to some fun conversations. "You made out with my GRANDMOTHER?" "You're sleeping with my GRANDDAUGHTER?")
Sleepy Hollow is back after a hiatus! I really enjoyed the A plot, but not so much the B plot flashbacks.
-Oh yay, another heroic white dude with a destiny inspired by the death of a POC. Yaaaay.
-The Katrinas/Ichabod flashbacks were...less interesting than I expected? Or maybe just a lot more cliched. (But why would I NOT expect cliched stuff in this show?) They're more interesting in the modern incarnation, despite the "fridged and/or imprisoned woman" fail, I guess. (I feel weird about that.)
-Also, Katia Winters's acting is perfectly decent, but her accent is awful, and stands out way more when she isn't stuck in her mystical purgatory place.
-BUT. Mills sisters teamup! Jenny making the same complaints Abbie made about ghost guides being vague isn't of just saying what they mean!
-But I guess this means Jenny turned down Abbie's offer?
-Abbie and Ichabod at the baseball game! I LOL forever.
-I can't decide if Irving knows more than he's letting on, or just spend a lot of time going "lalalalala ABBIE TAKE CARE OF THIS I DON'T WANT TO THINK ABOUT IT. Also, you can totally do whatever you want."
-Well, of course they brought in the masons. Someone on the writing staff is a big Americana conspiracy theory geek, I suspect.
-Abbie's dream was suitably freaky (and the baby carriage makes me wonder if Katrina was pregnant when Ichabod died).
-Someone should talk to Katrina about appropriate times to send people ghostly visions. While they're driving down the road at night is not one of those times.
-I want an episode that's just Abbie and Katrina with Katrina telling Abbie everything that happened to her after Ichabod died, with plenty of flashbacks. (But hopefully less accent. I'd have to rewatch the first couple of episodes, but I think she's actually toned it down a bit.)

Date: 2013-11-06 01:47 pm (UTC)Abbie said it would take time to get approval for the change, so I think that's it. Probably a delay built in to let Lyndie Greenwood finish being a regular on another show.
