Samurai Deeper Kyo: Akira and Hotaru picspam and MVs

Hrm...just because I feel like I've been neglecting SDK...

Anime MVs, though the Akira one has some manga pics.

Akira:

Sigh...My one real problem with the anime is that it never really gets into Akira or Hotaru's(or Shinrei's) characters.  They're more there as people from Kyo's past and we don't get to scratch the surface and see how seriously messed up...and strong...they are.

One of my favorite SDK pics(and the one in this icon:



Akira and Yuya.  Akira is rather in love with Yuya...not in the romantic rival way, it's more a case of he loves her, but knows she loves Kyo, who is a mixture of idol and brother for Akira.  But he's so shy and serious that it's absurdly cute.  They actually have a fairly hefty following.  Were it not for my Kyo/Yuya blinders, I could probably get behind it myself:

Yuan's more of an adoptive older brother and mentor, not to mention Hotaru's martial arts master. (Yuan also teaches his own numerous brothers and sisters, so that makes Hotaru even more "one of the family.") Kamijyo likes that, doesn't s/he? Kyo and Akira, Yukimura and Sasuke, Yuan and Hotaru ... .

The picture of Akira by the window is the one I played in Photoshop with to make a valentine for my friend TK, who was complaining on his blog that he didn't have a cute boyfriend to send him flowers ...   ;-)

And I have the complete pic of Hotaru with the flower drapery (the one that also features Bontenmaru and Akira) on the wall here, right by my desk.

Kamijyo seems to be pretty big on surrogate family figures in general, really.

I have the complete pic of that on my desk top, its just...big...

I've actually had a lot of the pics since long before you guys directed me there(though I did upgrade a few to the better quality ones there) but yeah, some, obviously) came from there...wouldn't surprise me if other places also borrowed them.

Oh, I borrow stuff from SDKPOWAAA all the time, and sometimes I just go there to look at all the pretty. So no criticism was intended ... .

Every once in a while the former Shiseiten remind me of how things must have been when they were all together, and Akira and Hotaru were so young. In vol. 14, when Bontenmaru has had his unnerving encounter with Tokito and is explaining to Akira why he thinks Hotaru will be guarding the First Gate, and then he tells Akira "I don't really think Kyo will lose, but I don't know if he can win." And Akira is silent for a moment and then says "Let's hurry," and they both rush off ... it's ironic, because Hotaru has just been trying to convince Yuya that none of them cared for each other. And there's a bit that Sanada just sent me, in rough draft translation, from vol. 31, where Akira is off by himself in the Mibu palace and starts worrying about having left Hotaru alone - something like "He can't take care of himself" (obviously Akira doesn't trust either Shinrei or Yuan's family to do a good job of it).

For guys who don't care about each other, they pick strange things to worry about!   ;-)

One of the biggest themes in the whole series, for me, is that true strength involves having true friends. Even Kyo ... although, of course, he insists that they're not his friends, they're his servants!

oh, I didn't take it as criticisms, I was just clarifying. I tend to open the website and stare at pretties while I'm at work myself. Such a shiny and sparkly place...

SDK has an interesting(to say the least) idea of friendship. It's why we love it.

Kyo's denial about...urm...anything involving emotions...is part of his charm.

Out of curiosity, has Kamijyo started or announced a new project?

Hotaru with the nice and expensive looking clothes, which actually suits him very well. and Shinrei as the poor looking guy. His hair looks so fuzzy. It's cute...
