meganbmooreAt WisCon, this vid for the Chinese movie So Close by thuviaptarth premiered to the delight of all. Very often when we get vids like this, the actual movie ends up having the awesome ladies in supporting roles, with the male protagonist getting the bulk of the action and the most important climactic action scene. This is not the case here. The movie stars Zhao Wei and Shu Qi as a pair of sisters who are assassins, and Karen Mok as the police officer hunting for them. This is the entire movie. Well, and the sisters' last employer trying to kill all of them. I am here to report that this vid, as awesome as it is, barely touches on the femslashiness of the movie, or all the ladycentric action scenes. Male characters are a very useful sidekick, a token love interest, and bad guys who get shot.
I also started the second season of A Certain Scientific Railgun today (I should post on the franchise already...)
The first episode has this for the climax (I recommend starting 2 minutes in, though the rest of the clip is just fine too.)
