Spring anime wrapup

Akuma no Riddle eps 8-12: So, apparently they were saving most of the actual plot (not to mention about 80% of Tokaku's characterization) for the last few episodes.
-LOLS HOW ARE SOME OF THESE CHARACTER'S ALIVE? I mean, I'm not objecting, but, you know...
-If you go to wikipedia's page for the show, Nio, Hitsugi and Chitaru's profiles are all "Somehow, they survived. Who knows how." IJS.
-I really liked the two parter where Isuke and Banba teamed up, even though I'm pretty sure it violated the game rules. Partly because I think it's the first time Tokaku fought someone who "got" her on certain levels, but mostly because we saw Haru's survival tactics really in action.
-"I will find out if I actually love you or am just being manipulated by your powers by trying to kill you." Ok then... (OTOH, your girlfriend seems to actually regard the dozen assassins out to kill her as friends, so I can't say i'm surprised that worked out for you, in the end.)
-I love this show for the trashy, id-tastic ZOMG ANGSTY LESBIAN ASSASSINS show that it is, but do wish, at times, that it was a more subtle, thoughtful show that could really explore the psychology of a person who is so used to assassination attempts that she just befriends people she knows will try to kill her soon, and not even in hopes that they'll change their mind. She just never has the opportunity to interact significantly with people who won't eventually try to kill her.
-No kissing? *flounce* (While it may have been shippy, the bit where Tokaku was locked in a cage underwater and Haru gave her air doesn't really count as kissing...)
Atelier Escha and Logy eps 7-12. Fluffy and cute until the end, though I wish it'd been a bit less normative with gender roles. I think this may become a go-to series when I want a relaxing, laid back thing, with bonus steampunky-medieval-lite clothing and setting. I didn't care much for the very last plot development, but I suspect they intend to adapt more of the Atelier games, so that may be why.
Black Bullet eps 8-13. Probably the lowest ranked (for me) of the season's anime, but I liked it, and am glad someone's doing fantranslations of the light novels.
-You know, I'm not big on the "Enju is in love with Rentaro" subplot, but I feel that, for the most part, it was regarded as a child with a crush and none of the characters save Enju herself thought it was anything other than that, so I didn't mind it so much. But I was really disappointed when people started teasing him/thinking he had done things with Tina. Because, no, that's not funny.
-I don't think it was actually necessary to kill all those little girls to drive home how awful their world is and especially society towards them.
-I really liked the sibling team, as well as Rentaro's old friend and his catgirl. I wasn't overly thrilled by the return of the creepy father/daughter pair.
-Did they just forget that Enju's gastraea levels were getting too high, or did they magically lower?
-I really hope that Kisara won't be the antagonist of any future seasons, as was heavily implied.
Still the World is Beautiful eps 7-12: Sadder to see this one go than any of the others, I think. Guess I should hunt down the manga.
-On the way to WisCon, it hit me that this show is probably very like what would happen if Fuyumi Ono were to write a romance. EVERYTHING MAKES PERFECT SENSE IF YOU LOOK AT IT LIKE THAT.
-That said, I could have done without Nike/Livius becoming quite so explicitly romantic at the end.
-Wow, Livius, that jealousy certainly caused some backsliding in the "personal growth" arena, now didn't it? (I mean, perfectly logical backsliding give you age and background, but still...)
-At last, acknowledgement that the royals of the Rain Kingdom can be a seriously dangerous force if they want to be, even if it was mostly in the distant past. I mean, if these people wanted, several of them working together could wreck an armada in one swoop, or completely destroy a countries ecology in a matter of days. Livius is so lucky that that Nike is pretty cautious and mature in these areas, if not in others.
-Uhm...why did Nike's family send her to Livius For Politics and then decide to make him forget she existed? Like, was the brainwashing going to include "also, you really really really like the rain kingdom now, but don't recall anything at all about any princesses, ever. Also, ignore all those people in your country asking about your fiancee." Though I suppose they could actually make it so that no one could get anywhere near the rain kingdom until Livius gave up.
Now to check out the new series before spending time with my nephews next week.
