New October Daye!
-Darn, this isn't the book where it's revealed that Sylvester has been secretly evil all along. Well, at least he's much less idealized in Toby's eyes now.
-I never thought I'd be sad to see Simon Torquill show up and be taken care of so very quickly. BUT. I want to know more about Amandine (since he seems more willing to actually talk to Toby about her mother than other people) and their relationship and about Toby's sister.
-I miss when Toby and Luna were close.
-I did not see all the stuff with Evening coming, and that is good. And I kinda want to reread the first book for continuity checking. Though, I wish her goals had been more clearly defined. As it was, it sometimes felt like "She hurt me and my friends and...is doing...something bad...for some reason...so I must stop her. For the good of all." There was more than that, of course, but I don't feel we really learned anything about she did the things she did.
-Raj kitty!stalking Chelsea was cute and hilarious, but, uhm, does he not recall that she accidentally dumped him in a fiery inferno, or whatever it was? I mean, forgiving her and getting over it because it wasn't actually her fault is fine and all, I'd just expect a bit of leeryness. Though, between that and Quentin's reaction to her not wearing proper livery, my "future triangle" alarm bells are vibrating a bit. (If McGuire decides to pair off any combination there, I'm totally ok with it, I just don't want triangles intruding.) I also find it hilarious that Quentin's "ZOMG! INAPPROPRIATE!" reaction was to something probably more conservative than the "proper" wardrobe. (Which is probably why Etienne doesn't appear to object.)
-Toby and Tybalt strike me more as the "permanent life partners" sort than the marrying sort, but ok. I expect there to be a lot of politics-related conniptions over this.
-all the allusions to mythic figures made me happy.
-The Luidaeg always makes me happy.
-Sylvester still isn't evil. I'm still sad about this.
-I think I had a lot more to say, but then I slept a couple times...
