Rogue One teaser trailer

I'm sure most have already seen it, but here's the teaser trailer for Rogue One, the first of the Star Wars anthology movies. (And the only announced one that I have any interest in.)

Unsurprisingly, the comments are full of people commenting about how liberals and feminists are destroying the franchise. They're good for pointing and laughing, I guess.

I'm in awe that they made another Star Wars film about a girl. This totally makes up for the stupid Han Solo movie.

See, I can understand why they would make a Young Han movie, despite it being completely unneeded. It's the Boba Fett movie I don't get.

I've never understood Boba Fett's appeal period.

Like, he does NOTHING in the original movies. He takes off with Han, eyes a couple girls at Jabba's then falls into the giant desert monster's mouth. That's it. Ok, I guess he tracks them, too, but that's largely offscreen. Like, his entire appeal seems to be the armor and jetpack. The Clone Wars TV series did make me mildly interested, but only in the context of his relationships (or rather, lack of such) with his "brothers." I know the comics are developing his character a bit and I assume EU had stuff about him to, but, like, he's pretty much an extra that got immensely popular so they decided maybe there should actually be a character to go with the armor and jetpack.

I also have some eternal bitterness towards him because apparently one of my absolute favorite characters/plotlines in The Clone Wars got mostly limboed until it was time for her to die so her actions wouldn't affect Revenge of the Sith. (Like, I accepted all along that that there was no way they could let her live without scrapping the movie continuity because her still being around would have changed how too many things went down, but apparently they were going to do a lot more with her than they did but behind the scenes stuff said no and I'm told it was somehow related to Boba's popularity.)

I do enjoy thinking about fanboys waking up screaming in the midle of the night when they realize their fave got retconned into being POC over a decade ago, though.

I could tell you about Boba Fett in the EU, but that would annoy you even more. I will take Ahsoka, Rey, Leia, Padme, and Jaina over him any day.
