anime: X: The Series episode 0

Just watched the first episode, or rather episode 0, of the anime X.  It's essentialy a big promo for the series itself(after this is a regular 26 ep anime, and this seems to be a midseries promo thing)  The first half features a duel between two identical men in uniforms with wings-one with white wings, the other black-and swords and the tragedy of a seer who cannot go outside, and his only source of companionship is to bring people whose deaths he's foreseen into his dreams before they die(or so I gather) and the second half is what seems to be clips for the series.

I'm not entirely sure what it's about except that it's about two identical young men named Kamui-one a force of good, the other, evil-and whichever is victorious determines the fate of the world, and it looks to have several angsty romances.  That said, the visuals are some of the most beautiful I've seen in anime, and the imagery and cinematography are amazing.

Also?  It's in love with feathers.  Seriously.

Went hunting on youtube for a non-spoilery MV, and the MV that made me decide to check out the series.

The one that made me check it out, basically a bunch of anime OTPs, including Kyo/Tohru, Shuri/Sarasa, Aya/Toya, Tamahome/Miaka and several others(including Sanzo/Goku, but we won't go there)

I fell in love with X the first time I saw it, probably because I was a huge CLAMP fan then. The manga, despite being unfinished, is still way better than the series ever was though, IMO. (It was the movie I saw first, actually, and it just made me feel WTF by the end, but X is a series which ends differently in every medium it's available.)

Also, Sorata/Arashi is my Tragic OTP.

When you say "unfinished" do you mean they just stopped with it, or it's still ongoing?

I have a problem with Clamp's manga in that they have a tendency to come up with really great ideas, but don't seem to know what to do with them in the end...the ending of Wish felt VERY tacked on, and the end of Chobits, iirc, contradicted itself back and forth.

Which ones are Sorata and Arashi?

I heard there were plans to continue it, I'm not so sure, but the last I knew, it was halted at volume 18. But then again, I just kind of stopped following CLAMP stuff.

Arashi's the one who looks like Sunako -- she's the shrine maiden -- and Sorata is the genki one who's always by her side. I really can't care less about X now (although I'd certainly check it out if the manga ends once and for all) but except for Sorata and Arashi. I mean I'm not usually yay with the angst, but these two? I love them to bits, angst and all.

Sorata is my personal absolute favorite character in X. Like you said, how can you not like him?! And as the story goes on? The love for him will just deepen.

Ah, just thinking about him actually makes me really smile a big, fond smile. Few 2-dimensional characters do that, haha.

Sorata is like Benitora in Samurai Deeper Kyo...on the one hand, he's a big, loveable dork who never met a stranger and has a tendency become friends with everyone he meets and thinks a brawl is a great way to bond with a guy, but he has his serious and responsible side and seems to be utterly loyal.

I've met both now...I like Arashi and am developing a deep, deep fondness for Sorata. How can you NOT adore the guy? Actually, I noticed them and was interested in ep 0 but didn't know their names.

I'm all for angst if it's handled well, but lose all tolerance for it once they start wallowing in it.

I was never really a person who cared much for angst, but these two? Broke my heart. And I mean that in a good way.

X in general though, is filled with angst, some of which are a little too much for me.

Anyway, I'm going to stop now. I'm not going to build them all up only for you to disappointed. ^^

Actually, I wrote my first "ff.net" fic because of some final fantasy 8 "AMV" and the reveiws were all a positve! So much for playing RPGs...
