DLs hate me and the rest of Handsome Siblings

Ok, do DLs despise me or something?  Three out of five episodes of Liar Game haven't joined right for me...the other 2 eps were put on megaupload as hardsubs so I got those that way, but so far ep 5 is only available as a torrent...and I have NEVER had a torrent finish DLing.  Seriously...I left one going for a month once and it didn't finish.  The sucky part is that there was only about 5 minutes left in ep 5 when it died...maybe this is a sign that I just shouldn't bother DLing and wait for DVDs?

Anyway, I finished watching Handsome Siblings.  I don't always succeed, but I generally try to avoid really getting into the end of this type of show, so all that's really under the cut is babblings about that certain scene(the one that involved swords, blindfolds and rain-which includes spoilers for leading up to that) and the villain.

The short bersion of my overall thoughts is that I loved it for the most part.  It needed to be about 10 episodes shorter to be a favorite, but once my thoughts settle and I can ponder it, I think it'll still have one of my favorite doramas OTPs, and one of the best villains(in the "so evil you need to diediedie but man are you impressive" way.)

First of all, the rain scene:  If I wasn't an emotional wreck already before that scene, I would have been after.  Flower, who thought he lost everything, regained it all when he found Orchid and he learned Little Fish was was his brother.  Then he was forced to leave to repay his last debt to his masters, and when he returned,  he learned his child supposedly died at birth, which drove his wife insane with her-correct-conviction that the child was alive.  And then his wife is murdered, only he's told it's suicide, and this time, there is a body.  He holds her, he buries her ashes, he erects a grave.  He's emotionally dead inside...all that's left is his survival instinct and his need for vengeance.  And it's worse than when he thought she was dead, because there isn't even pain left, just the empty loneliness and the knowledge that he loved and could never love again...the only feeling he has left is his love for Orchid.  Then, when he's attacked, he covers the grave marker with his cloak(and makes sure it covers the whole thing) then puts on the blindfold because it doesn't matter...they aren't people, and his own survival is irrelevant.  There's no need for style or form, to see what he does or what's coming, all that's needed is for his body to go through the motions, and seeing their faces and associating the flesh his sword meets with them will only remind him of humanity and what he's lost.  All that there is is the need to destroy those who would violate the sanctity of Orchid's grave-the rest is irrelevant.  *has a new favorite rain scene*

And Yuyan?  The best villains are the ones that you don't notice at first, and that's the case here.  When we first meet Yuyan, she's an irritating and forgettable Damsel in Distress crushing on Flower.  By the end of the series she has killed, shemed, lied and plotted her way to becoming the most powerful person in the nation-both politically and in martial arts, and she's destroyed everything that stood in her path-her family, her romantic rival, and even the emperor himself.  It's interesting that the daughter Jiang Biehe raised to be his heir turned out kind, honest and honorable, yet the one he didn't raise was even more evil and corrupt than he was, and she was already rotten to the core when they met, he just gave her the means to fulfull her ambitions, both deliberately and against his will.

Incidentally, may I just say that it takes skill to actually look good while you have somewhere between 6 and 12 swords strapped to you?  *wishes she had more pics of this scene*

I don't know if this will help you, but if you google, or check out the megafaq at d-addicts, they have tricks for improving your connectivity using BT - I know that last summer I was having massive problems dling and when I switched to Azureus and started changing my ports, my connectivity improved hugely - now I can pull down most currently airing eps (which have lots of seeders) in anything from 1-5 hours. It usually starts slow but then picks up dramatically after 15 or 20 minutes. A lot of ISPs have things in place to block our connectivity for things like BT, which is why changing ports has such an effect.

I'm not techie at all, but I know that at least doing this has helped me a lot.

I'm also wondering if there is something wrong with your internet connection if your dls of split files aren't joining correctly - this can happen when the entire file isn't present for some reason - as in each piece maybe didn't dl fully or correctly? I'm assuming that you've tried to join the same split files a couple times to make sure that it's the files that are faulty and not the program? I suppose it's also possible that your joining program has become corrupted, but I'm taking wild guesses at all this.

It's only ever happened w/ LG...the eps of HYD2 I DLed, as well as several others I've DLed the first ep of, have all joined just fine. I actually really dislike DLing and watching on my puter...I just wanted to keep up w/ LG as it went along.

And Nic Tse is almost painfully pretty at times.

I think I have dowloaded 2 out of 4 LG episodes from jdramas and they connected for me correctly. ** hmm ** I wonder why yours didn't! It had never happened to me before.. Do you have all the parts? What to you use to connect them?

But I actually prefer torrents. They take longer sometimes (thought not all the time, the new shows like LG download as fast. It all depends on amount of people seeding/downloading) but then I don't have to glue the parts together. Also often you can download the whole batch. I just live it on at night and on a mornign - YAY! As winterspel I use Azureus for torrents and I changed the port. I also have a router (which is MAGIC! downloads are much faster with a router).

I use HJsplit to join the parts(and yeah, I make sure I have all the parts) and Azureus is what I use for torrents. I think dangermousie has the same problem with torrents, though not as bad.

and...through killing with this pretty(except icons) as I'm finished and have posted about 80-90% of the pics I have, anyway(only unusable or extremely spoilery pics haven't made it to these posts)

You might want to try Opera 9.00 It has a build-in bit torrent client which works beautifully and before I used that I also had troubles with BTs.
I just downloaded ep 5 of LG in about two hours.
