some days, you should just stay in bed...

Or at least, stay home, read, and watch DVDs.
Went into work for a few hours for overtime, then went to the dentist. Dropped by Hastings hoping they still had used copies of volumes 2-4 of Land of Silver Rain, a manga I've been eyeing for a while...they had all 4 used on($5 each) Saturday and I got v1, then it after finishing Storm of Swords and liked it quite a bit, but they only had v4 today(got it and a few movies that have been highly recommended-Painted Veil, Pan's Labyrinth and One Night With the King-all for $25) headed to treat myself to some Chinese takeout...and my tire blew out.
Had to walk about 70 yards(Texas, June, jeans, dark t-shirt, edge of desert) to the nearest open place(no cell phone) which was a health club. As this is real life and not Hollywood, there were no dazzlingly physically perfect people in tight lycra around to try to give me an inferiority complex, and the employyes were really nice and let me use their phone and phone book to call roadside service. And hover just inside the front of their nice, air conditioned building waiting for the guy to show up.
Guy shows up, and we find out that the bolts on the tire were out on so tight with an pressure gun that without a pressure gun to take them off, he could end up completely stripping the bolts and they'd STILL be on too tight. By then it's already 7:15 and autoshops are closed, and he said(and what I was thinking) that the best thing to do if we couldn't find a place would be to take me and the car home and then call someone to tow me to a shop tomorrow. But because he was headed in my general direction anyway, he didn't charge me for the towing) and there were about 3 auto shops between there and my apt and he checked on the way to make sure they weren't open, just in case.
So, upside? REALLY nice people. Downside? Tomorrow is basically get up, do rounds, call for towing, get tire fixed, then probably go straight to work.
Also? Good thing I have roadside service on insurance.
