4400 s3, ep 1(and 2 is watched, but this is about 1)

Dear 4400 TPTB: I hate you.  Not for long, I'm sure, but you are receiving my death glare daggers right now.

For anyone clicking on this who has no idea what 4400 or the people in the pictures are: 4400 is about 4400 "alien abductees" who were taken in the last 60 years, who were all returned simultaneously and in one place, unaware that any time had passed, or that they'd gone anywhere.  One of the "returnees" is Richard, a black pilot from the Korean War who was abducted in the middle of being beaten for dating a white woman.  When he returned, he met Lily, the granddaughter and dead ringer of his girlfriend, who was also a returnee.  Lily had been taken only 10 years earlier and when she tried to return to her old life, she found out that her husband had remarried and her daughter thought the new wife was her real mother.

Since they were prime candidates for romantic angst, Richard and Lily ended up geting involved with each other, and Lily soon learned that even though she most definately was NOT pregnant when she was taken, she was now, and what's more fun, even though they'd never had sex, it was Richard's baby(they get the diapers but not the fun part...how fair is that?)  It sounds kinda odd that he fell for his girlfriend's granddaughter, but it works, partly because they really are nice, normal people who have insane, abnormal thiongs happen to them..  Unfortunately, Lily's sole purpose after returning was to give life to Isabelle and help her fulfill her purpose, which meant making Isabelle grow up fast.  Which meant Isabelle(against her will) literally stole Lily's youth until she died and 80-something year old despite not even being 30 yet.

I hate you TPTB.

You killed half my OTP.

And really, Richard isn't ready to cope with his 1 year old daughter talking to him about having asked his boss to have sex with her.

Isabelle had so better be worth it.

Exactly why I quit watching 4400. I don't like the grown up Isabelle AT ALL and I liked Lily. As far as I'm concerned, they ruined 4400.

Aye. Richard and Lily are likely my favorite characters. Isabelle...sigh...as a plot device, she's actually interesting, as a character, I just want to give her a serious reality check and use a crowbar to pry her off Shawn. She has the questionable honor of being the first character(aside from random guests and such) who I've actually disliked. And now Alanna is gone, too, though I suspect that's just temporary. Part of the appeal of 4400 is that, until Isabelle, they were all nice, normal people living their lives as best they could and suddenly their lives were interrupted and thrown into chaos, if not outright taken from them, and they had to cope with it as best they could, and Richard and Lily(both as individuals and as a couple) were the best example of that(along with Maia) That said, the non-Isabelle parts are still good.
