cdrama: Face to Fate

So, why am I giddy that I've finally found this with English subs and it's on it way to me right now?



Let's see....

What happens when the renown assassin of the masters of the evil half of the wuxia world is sent to kill the master of the good half, but his target's beautiful(and, naturally, martial arts proficient) daughter gets in the way?  Well, in real life, it's a quick slice and a "bummer, one less pretty girl out there" while wiping off his sword.  Fortunately, this is wuxia instead of real life, so he falls in love with her and abandons his masters instead and they end up facing opposition from both sides(obviously, neither side is going to be pleased with this development)

Also?  I'm assured they get a happy ending.  They're actually one of the secondary pairings, but they're what was used to sell me by those who know what weaknesses to exploit(though I already wanted to check it out because it sounded interesting) calixaalso tells me that the main pairing is even better.

Also, what is it with Nancy Wu that she keeps getting roles where she's a good girl who reforms bad boys?  In Lost in the Chamber of Love, she played the younger sister of the hero who reformed a bandit, and then she had to convince him he was good enough for her(my favorite of the romances there, btw)

Yes, he has green tufts in his hair.  My guess is that no one is brave enough to risk death just to point out his questionable fashion sense to him.
   

Why yes, he IS carrying her on his back here.  Why yes, I AM well aware that this is a kink of most of my flist who would actually be reading this out of personal interest.

I keep thinking, if they'd casted Myolie Wu in this, it would be my three favourite tvb actresses all in one drama...

Most people didn't like the main pairing - they were apparently "boring" - but I loved them. She's young and impressionable and holds grudges and he's world-weary and wise and stoic. This obviously leads to friction and misunderstandings, but there's also respect and she manages to bring some humour out of him - you'll see him lightly tease her sometimes. I think she makes him more human & he teaches her to grow up.

But all the pairings are pretty good.

hmmm...myolie, nancy and tavia...yes, that would be awesome...

The main pairing does sound quite fun. I take your word for them, as we usually tend to completely agree about pairings

I think I have a weakness for youthful!Tavia paired with older, more worldly male characters. I never like her paired with the younger actors like Ron or even Raymond (though they might have been fun in this one).

well, they already made him an awesome(i am assured) assassin with a star crossed love...if they made him TOO pretty no one would notice the lead...

I've seen him in something else though(Shades of Truth) and I'll take "nice looking and can act and carry a scene" over "pretty, but that's all he has going for him"

Besides I've seen pics and MVs of Frankie Lam and Raymond Lam(the guy in the Twin of Brothers MV you found a while back) and they are hot.

oooh.... sounds right up my street! I am sooooo going to be checking this out! I love wuxia! they seem to be able to do relationship agnst like no other genre and the dashing men and pretty girls all hemmed in by societal moral values and jiang-hu code of ethics and conduct all combine to make it all the more delicious!

on that front, i am a very shallow girl.
