Ok, seriously, does this production company just like to make it's characters suffer? Do they think Hu Ge angsts well?  Ok, he does, but...

Really, not quite the great ball of angst that was Chinese Paladin, but pretty close(and really, a much happier, sweeter ending than what I'd expected, given that it was a romance between a goddess and a mortal with every other god opposed to it)

-an episode largely devoted to the torture and angst of the two main male leads for crimes they didn't commit, framed by the authorities in charge of them

-several episodes after that devoted to their losing everything and having the world turn against them

-lovers(another goddess and mortal) separated for 50 years(with her imprisoned the entire time) only to have him die soon after they were reunited

-everything they did to the Dong parents...it was just horrible

-a good man being forced to become a murderer to repay a debt owed by three generations of his family

-only being allowed to spend a hundred days of your entire life with your soul mate

-being chained to a rock in hell with all the gods mocking and taunting you because you refuse to deny your love

-having your child taken from you(presumably forever) before you're allowed to even look at him(it's possibly my neighbors heard me scream over that)

Moving on...

Right now(it may move up or down once it's been more than 20 minutes since I finished it) in terms of wuxia cdrama preferences, I'd place this about equal with Return of the Condor Heroes, which is right after Seven Swordsmen and Chinese Paladin.  Of the ones I've seen, it's the most straightforward romance, and has the fewest tangents(with Handsome Siblinngs being the worst at that...usually it's ok as they tend to be connected with the characters learning and growing up, but there it was all just excuses to showcase Dicky Cheung)

I'd have more to say, but I'm still busy freaking out that they wouldn't let Xiaoqi see her baby(not HOLD, but SEE)

Also, I found a 46 page gallery of Chinese Paladin pics...expect a picspam soon.

Hu Ge angsts a TON. Hu Ge angsts so well the the cdrama TPTB think that in every drama he should lose everything and have everyone he loves either die or be taken from him. I mean, I could give you a giant list of his fate in all his dramas(at least we know he gets a happy ending in Legend of the Condor Heroes as he plays Guo Jing...course, his best friend will turn evil and try to kill his pregnant life, but at least we know he gets at least 40~ years of a loving marriage with 3 kids and gets to be a reknown hero)

The first two(and a ton of other things) happen to him(and one of his friends, even though they're in separate parts of the country) The last happens to Ariel Lin. Hu Ge is busy trying to get to the heaven's so he can fight fire dragons and giants and challenge the Emperor of Heaven to rescue her.
