Yoshitsune: deep, deep mourning

I do not care that it is history.

I do not care that as soon as I saw Abe Hiroshi he was going to be a great warrior and leader.

I do not care that I was 90% sure that he got the role so he could do an awesome blaze of glory death scene.

I do not care that he was a true samurai and filial son and hero to the end.

I do not care that it was one of the best scenes of the entire thing so far.

They killed Abe Hiroshi.  The bastards.  But it was truly a blaze of glory death.  And he took many Genji with him.  One of my four favorites is gone..and there has been steady character death lately...and I know how my precious Benkei goes(also a blaze of glory.)  Thankfully, as far as I know, Yoshiko and Utsubo were created for the drama and do not have historically mandated deaths.

Also, at least they didn't have Yoshitsune win the duel between him and Tomomori...because, while I like Takki, he's not a fraction as convincing a warrior as Abe is.  Plus?  Even without that, Abe could step on him and that would be that...

And on a purely shallow level, I like Takki and he is very pretty and we all know I adore Oguri Shun beyond words, and there are random other good looking guys, but nobody in this drama wears the armor, hair and scruff the way Abe does. NOBODY.

Having just finished Silence I echo your mood. I do not think that a film that simply consisted of Lee Jun Ki frolicking with puppies would lighten my mood.

actually, I think a movie about Lee Jun Ki frolicking with puppies would scare me...they might do a fourth Bourne movie an kill the puppies one after another before every take to make sure Matt Damon never smiles.
