 1.  I think I am temporarily over the fantasy movie fest.  Temporarily because I think I am iconned out for a bit and know that a post will make me want to make icons.  I do, however, have Legend pics saved and Ladyhawke pics located, sothere is definately more coming.

2.  When I wasn't making icons this weekend, i was watching Fantasy Couple, the kdrama based on Overboard and from the same people as My Girl and Sassy Girl Chun-Hyang.  While I still have 4 episodes to go, I have to say this is one of the finniest doramas I've seen, definately the funniest kdrama I've seen.  This productiom team also knows how to make truly despicable Other Women.  Other producers try to make other members of triangles likable and understandable, with varying degrees of success.  But these guys?  They have no interest in our feeling sorry for the one who doesn't get the guy.  While Vase Girl may seem so boring she makes your eyes glaze over in the first few episodes, fear not, soon she shall reach the dreaded Lip Gloss Girl's heights of evil as she claims other's good deeds as her own, tells everyone she left her fiance because she realized who she really loved when in truth he dumped her, send spies to report back on her ex-boyfriend and his new girlfriend, and abandon small children in the middle on the street after promising them pizza to sort non-existant wedding gifts.  And various other things(there's also the regularly pretending to drink herself sick so she can call the hero and have him carry her home so she can enjoy leaning on his very manly body...I actually find it difficult to hold that against her when she isn't rubbing it in.)  Thankfully, our heroine takes nothing lying down, and our hero, despite constantly being fooled by her Evil Ways, knows who he should be standing by and does.

3.  I am also pondering my next dorama.  Young Warriors is high up there, but twice already this director has made me totally and completely fall in love with the characters and then  ripped my heart out and stomped on it by piling the angst and character death on.  i do not trust him.  Plus, [profile] calixahas warned me this is what will happen, and 9/5 times out of 10 we share a dorama brain.  I am open to suggestions for anything you think or know I have.

4.  Scifi showed a Roswell marathon today.  I wouldn't actually know this, except I babysat Jackson while Jen got her hair done and she had Scifi on when I got there.  I mostly-watched(infant nephew all over the place...) the second half of the Vegas episode, the prom episode, the Character Death episode with Logan Echolls impersonating a fast food delivery boy, and a bit of the episode after that.  As a lot know, I've been half pondering watching Roswell for a good while but never got around to it.  The f-list(well, the parts who've posted/talke to me aboutthe show) seems fairly divided about varying things.  Anyway, my general thoughts.

I liked Michael, Kyle, Alex and Isabel a lot.  I like Maria and didn't mind Tess(though, honestly, she didn't do anything whatsoever in the eps I saw.)  The problem was Max and Liz.  Max seemed to be something of a jerk and seemed to sleepwalk his way through half of it.  In the first scene I saw, Michael compared him to a robot and I think he has a point, but not in the good-robot way.  Liz reminded me so much of Lana Lang in Smallville that I was twitching almost every time she opened her mouth.  They even have identical "look at me, I'm serious" looks.  There was one scene where she confronted Max about seeing him kiss Tess(Liz and Max were broken up and Max was seeing Tess or some such) and she was visibly mad and practically demanding an apology, but telling him that it was ok and she understood, while obviously expecting excuses and apologies.  Something about the scene just really, really rubbed me the wrong way.  They gave me allthe wrong Smallville vibes, except it's not as bad in Smallville because while Tom Welling is far from the world's greatest actor, he pretty consistently makes Clark very sweet and endearing, just dumb on certain levels.  Plus, we all know he ends up with the far superior Lois in the end, making it all better.

There were bits I liked, such as the Sheriff's(?) interactions with the kids, his line about it being ok to miss class if it's because you have to save the world, Kyle's realizing he liked Tess as a sister, not romantically, Michael and Kyle's debate over whether or not The Matrix or Crouching Tiger/Hidden Dragon was a better movie, etc.

Granted, I came in mid-story AND mid-ep, and I have no idea how far in I was except that it obviously wasn't season 1, so i may like Max and Liz more if I watch it properly, but right now it looks to be too focused on relying on my wanting scenes of them angsting for my tastes.  So, based on what I've said, worth my checking it out properly because I like the supporting characters and what I saw of the storyline?

I have a friend who watched Roswell from season 1... she hated Tess and loved Max/Liz so I guess it's true what you're saying. I never finished season 2 of Roswell so I didn't see what had really happened when Alex died, just when Liz started to investigate it. I had read spoilers though and knew that Tess was behind it, but I still hated the way Liz acted.

As for Lana... if you've only seen season 1-4, then you're in for a lot more pain. IMO she should have stayed in Paris when I still thought she was ok. Not complaining about Kristen Kreuk's acting either, but I really dislike the character she is playing in the recent seasons.

I think the little sister, Ba Mei, is adorable even though she's usually portrayed as older in series about the Yang family. So far I like the cast, Amy Chan is perfect as the mother and Eddie Peng is adorable (as usual). I like the family aspect of this series with all the brothers and the little sister, especially as my dad has a lot of siblings as well. I have a feeling that I'll like Yelu Xie more as the series progress, I think Yuan Hong was a great choice for him. (can't wait to see him as Yang Kang in the new LOCH)

Liz's behavior after Alex's death was very much relying on our knowing she was right to make it ok...a "the ends justify the means" thing.

The Paris thing in Smallville...sigh...they gave her the perfect writing out...it was very well done all around, then they brought her back for no good reason...the fact that they included lois in s4 just made lana being there even more irritating. I've been spoiled for a fair bit of s5-s6, so...yeah...

I just finished the series I've been watching, so I'll probably start Young Warriors later.
