I was wondering(because I had lunch with Mom and ended up with a hamburger because she ordered and didn't know what else they had...but that's ok, I wasn't there for the food) does anyone else just not like beef?  I like hamburger helper ok, and spaghetti sauce and stoganoff(and meatballs for both) but I just don't like beef in general(you'll note that when I do, you can usually barely taste it for the sauces).  I don't care for hamburgers and I don't like steak, steakfingers, brisket, ribs. etc.

If there's ever an option, I prefer chicken or fish(any seafood, really) then ham if they aren't available.  More often than not, when I go to a function where food is provided, I leave still hungry, because the meat is some sort of beef.  Sadly, it's assumed that everyone in Texas likes beef, especially steak and brisket, to bits, so it dominates pretty much everything when it comes to options.  Sometimes I can eat most of my portion out of politeness if it's really, really good(btw, today's hamburger was rather dry, sadly) but usually, if there's no other option, I pick at it, eat the other dishes, and explain that I'm not very hungry.

Does anyone else not care for beef?  Reassure me that I'm not alone...

BTW, for the curious, I got Bones S2.  I may be able to work it so that I can get Supernatural S2 on Friday or Saturday, though.

I go in cycles of not liking certain meats. Right now chicken is OMG GOOD, beef is in the ascendancy, but pork is on the way down. I can tell when I'm about to start not liking something by when I start feeling vaguely nauseated at the idea of a large hunk o'whatever it is. I spent the last few years feeling ill at the thought of Hunk o'Steak, or Hunk o'Chuck Roast*, but right now I'd really like a good steak. So I know that beef is coming in. Pork roast, though ... um, not so appealing.

Five years from now it'll be completely different, of course. (And I also live in Texas and have been served good steak, bad steak, and everything in between.)

* Exception: steak the way my dad made it, with garlic and Worcestershire sauce and lemon pepper rubbed into it, then grilled, but that's a comfort food and thus not subject to other Rules of Eating.

I've been served virtually every form of steak known to man, I think. It's just never taken.

I think there's just something about when dads cook meat...I love my dad's hamburger patties(it involves cracker crumbs and lots of seasonings) and he makes the best grilled chicken I've ever had.

Parent Food is always excluded from the rules of eating. Even Parent Food you don't like.
