Supernatural Season 2: the end

Sooo...I did a big post and explorer died and LJ didn't autosave...again...(second time in a week...) And so, mostly just pics...
Though, the ending? Everything I was led to expect. I am pleased.
Also, if you have the set, make sure you watch the bloopers. If you watch the show and aren't getting the set, watch them on youtube.

People I really want to see again but probably won't:
Most important, of course, is Jo:

Then there's Gordon, the crazy hunter who likes the killing far too much. I'm not sure why I like him but I do.

(also, after reading Jo's blog, I want an episode with BOTH of them)
I also really liked Hendrickson, the federal agent after Dean and Sam:

Though, with those last 2, we come to a problem I have with supernatural: Aside from Cassie in season one, it seems that almost every non-disposable extra who isn't white is black and an antagonist. In addition to these two there's also Jake, who was a flat out villain(and disposable.) Now, I think Gordon is one of the most interesting characters in Supernatural, and I like that, so far at least, Hendrickson isn't being played as a bad guy, but a good(if possibly ruthless) man who truly, and with fairly good reason, believes Sam and Dean are murderers and threats to anyone around them, but...I think they're trying, it's just that somehow, the trying seems to make it stand out more.
People I really want to see again and probably have a good chance of seeing in S3:
Ellen(please tell me this is confirmed? I've heard conflicting reports)

Bobby:

This made me waver a bit in my shipping:

The picture also amuses me because, even when sitting, Jared has to slouch to not be taller than Alana.
I also wonder if that scene was all The Demon Formerly Known As Meg, or if TDFKAM let Sam out a bit there, like later on with Sam. There seemed to be a bit of "why did you immediately go for my brother and never spare a look at me?" in there.
This also appeals to me in a Very Wrong Way.

But then this happened:

And this:

Have I mentioned how much I love the look Dean tends to have when he looks at Jo? "You are cute and I like you, but I have no idea what to do with you that won't get me killed. By your mother."

Also, clips of this scene before I watched the ep broke my heart and cemented my shipping:
"I'll call you."

*waits for him to be out of earshot*

"No you won't."

How you can watch that scene without your heart breaking for Jo, I don't know, shipping or no shipping. Because, even though he means it when he says it, you know who's right, and you know that Jo is realizing that no one is going to ever come before the job and Sam for Dean.
Also, Dean was seriously channeling Mal Reynolds from Firefly when he told Jo not to follow him. Actually, Dean often reminds me of Mal.
You know, I think Tall Tales was too much of a light episode too soon after the darkness of Born Under A Bad Sign, but I loved it. I especially loved Sam through Dean's eyes:

So very much too much makeup, and I think Jared liked playing prissy Sam just as much as TDFKAM!Sam.
And I LOVED in the Hollywood ep where they mentioned Gilmore Girls and Jared's face there.
"What?" *PANIC!*

"RUN AWAY! RUN AWAY!"

I actually kinda want to see the amazingly bad horror movie they were filming in that ep...
In the djinn episode, this made me wibble:

But this depressed me:

Even in his fantasy world, Dean couldn't make himself believe John could be alive again.
But this depressed me more:

Because I honestly think that Dean is just so messed up that he can't begin to fathom being with a real person, so instead of imagining himself with someone he cared about or could care about, he just attached a model's face to a perfect, respectable, devoted girlfriend. What he "should" want vs anything he'd ever really want or be happy with.
Ok, I have to admit, as happy as I am that Ellen wasn't barbecued, there is something a touch suspicious about this:

Even though this had me going "aaaawwwwwwww" like nobody's business.

Toss in Jo and Sam and it's like a family reunion.
THIS MADE ME HAPPY AND GIDDY LIKE NOTHING YOU WOULD EVER BELIEVE!!!!!!! (even though I spent the whole bit going "Huh? Where the heck did you come from?")

This bit also made me giddy:

I also feel that Dean A) Fit in far, far too well in prison and B) had far too much fun there.

On a closing note, can someone tell me who this actress is, and where I may have seen her before?

I think my absolute favorite part is when Dean grabs Jo's gun when they meet, but in one take, Jensen used too much force and it went flying, and Alona just started jumping around and practicing her punches while everyone else burst out laughing. Actually, watching that made me realize Sam is lucky Dean ran into her...it's impressive enough she managed the face punch with a 10 inch disadvantage...Sam probably would have got a punch to the neck(which, as has been discussed elsewhere, would be amazingly effective, but may have left us one Winchester short of a set...)
There's also a bit in No Exit, where the boys hear Jo and investigate, but the prop wall gives way or something when Jared leans on it so you see him one second, then you don't the next. I also kinda winced at the take in the same ep when they had to climb down the manhole...you weatch and kinda cringe as Jensen tries to work his way down such a small hole...then it's Jared's turn and you realize that's 10 times worse.
I also have an odd fondness for Jared's "I'm gonna come in there and kick your little 5'4" ass!" when someone gave him a hard time about a window being stuck.
And finally? I never realized how much Dean eats until I saw that montage...

Random drop in...
Date: 2007-09-24 04:32 am (UTC)So, Supernatural is good? Should I add it to my netflix? It seems to have several actors I'm familiar with.
Re: Random drop in...
Date: 2007-09-24 04:35 am (UTC)I'm very fond of Supernatural. It's not perfect, but it's a very good folklore/roadtrip/horror series and has great characters, both lead and guest/recurring.
