Ai Yori Aoshi: HOW AM I SURVIVING THIS???

Seriously. I haven't been this annoyed with a female character in an anime or manga since Azalie and Lycorice in Orphen and Orphen 2 a year or so ago(though I did like Cleao...I think I'm the only one in the world who does, though.)
Aoi is such an amazingly perfect and prim and talented lady that I can't help but think she's supposed to be the male ideal of a girl...if I'm right, I pity the males of the species. I feel death by boredom is in their future. I mean, this girl raised herself to be the perfect, traditional cook, housekeeper and wife because...he was nice to her when they were little kids? Not because he grew up to be a great guy (though he did) but because of him as a kid. And...she loves him because he was a nice kid, not because of who he is as an adult. I swear, he could be an utter cretin and she'd be acting the same.
I mean...her idea of the proper way to celebrate HER birthday is to buy a pair of women's clothes she saw him looking at to...make him happy by wearing it. I kid you not. Because his happiness is the perfect gift for her. And she's so modest that she can't wear her swimsuit at the beach, but she can if he'll go alone with you at night. And I doubt she's aware that human beings have the ability to demand answers and stick up for themselves. I mean, he stays out all night long and she hears about another girl kissing him(both against his will) and he starts never being home(working extra hours to buy her a gift) and she NEVER asks where he he was or what he was doing...I mean, seriously, WE know it was innocent on his part, but for all she knows, he was off participating in orgies.
Seriously, this girl is so amazingly lucky that Kaoru'sa such a great guy...I swear she'd be the world's biggest doormat with a less-nice guy, and would never lodge a single protest. Actually, she IS a doormat...Kaoru just isn't the kind of guy to take advantage of it.
The sad thing is...I still kinda like it...I love Kaoru and Miyabi and the whole thing has this sort of charm...it's just so amazingly frustrating.
I'm not sure if
calixatalking to me about good anime throughout helps or hinders the watching. But I get more enjoyment out of it than I do the show.
Eight episodes left. The scary thing is: I also have the sequel. I curse my completist nature.
