Heh. I think he was more saying "don't kill them just to kill them and add angst" than "and make sure everyone happily skips off in a field of flowers at the end"

Incorrect! You can write professionally if you write unhappy endings but don't expect to ever be a NYT bestseller!

Yep, you can wallow in relative obscurity if you wish(though, frankly half the time, unhappy endings seem to be unhappy just to avoid a happy ending, so i see his point)

I hope he does, writing a well selling urban fantasy series, and a well selling high fatnasy series, with the urban fantasy series having been a short lived TV show and being turned into a comic...
