meganbmooreOk, I read far too much in far too short a time to have a proper writeup or anything, so just some scattered thoughts.
*I pretty much see what people mean about this taking decompression to absurd lengths, but fortunately, it doesn't annoy as much when one is reading over a hundred chapters in about a week and a half. Though really, I can only imagine what it's like to read it week to week. I'll have to wait at least 2 months to read more, so it can build up.
*As a direct result of that, I was torn between "YAY! KENPACHI!" and "Oh man...he found another way to drag it out" when the shinigami showed up. I can just imagine the thought that went into that "crap, I've skewered three of them and there's only Orihime to patch them up and she's busy and there's no way Renji and Ishida can beat this guy...OH! I KNOW! I'LL JUST BRING IN A BUNCH OF CAPTAINS TO TAKE CARE OF IT!"
*But it did bring in Kenpachi. And the best part of that was Yachiru randomly popping up on her playground his back.
*And while I may never be able to decide whether or not I like Byakuya, I must say that he does his stuff well.
*Also, I can't help but think that if Yoruichi, Urahara, Isshin and Papa Ishida hsuled their butts up there, it'd all be over pretty quick. Heck, just Urahara and Yoruichi.
*Still don't like the vizards/vaizards/whatever. Like them as a concept, but most of the actual characters annoy me.
*I do, however, adore Nell. In both forms. Despite the very annoying lisp. I have to wonder though...does Tite Kubo just randomly feel the need to out-busty his last busty chick? I mean, Orihime was pretty busty...then Matsumoto came along and put her to shame. Adult!Nell looks like she'd at least match, if not top, Matsumoto in the generous chest department if they wore the same clothing.
*While I don't find the Espada annoying, I don't find a lot of the individual ones particularly interesting. Mostly, I just kinda wish they'd go down faster.
*Except Grimmjow, who I love muchly. Not in a fangirlish "EEE! I WANT TO HAVE YOUR BABIES AND WOULD SO DATE YOU IF YOU WERE REAL!" way, but in a "You may be a psycho, but you're a cool one and rather fun to read about where the boundaries of reality and fiction keep us nice and separated" way.
*Even though this is even more of a "save the girl" story that the soul society arc, I finf I'm less annoyed with that aspect of it here. Probably because Rukie is the initial "warrior chick" of the series, while Orihime is more the "non-fighter girl who wants to help." I expect the warrior chick to be able to at least somewhat save herself instead of sitting around waiting to be rescued, but Rukia...sat there and wished no one was trying to save her. Orihime, meanwhile, at least has a plan.
*I still don't quite get the Grimmjow/Orihime and Aizen/Orihime stuff I see. Grimmjow/Orihime I guess I can get a bit, though I'd need some indication he actually gives a *hem* about whether she lives or dies before I could really see it(hey, manga/anime has made accept some amazingly screwed up pairings over time...I mean, not only was Samurai Deeper Kyo able to convince me that sexual harassment=true love, but it can even make me preach it...in that one, exclusive, special case) but Aizem/Orihime? I...can't quite see kidnapper-planning-to-use-and-I-think-he-also-said-kill-her-but-I-can't-recall-off-the-top-of-my-head/kidnappee. Though part of that is that while I acknowledge Aizen's brains and coolness, I'm rather firmly of the opinion that's his stomach should be sliced open and his intenstines ineptly removed with chopsticks(the best villains inspire the most rabid hatred alongside the interest.)
*Unrelated to any of the above, or even these chapters, really, but Urahara and Yoruichi would have amazingly pretty babies. Course, Yoruichi would probably hunt him down and murder him during labor. As she'd have a litter of pretty, shapechanging babies.

I must now debate whether to delete these chapters to free up needed hard drive space, or to keep them for possible future icon making.
