So, apparently Hastings doesn't want to sell Nausicaa, just rent it(rolls eyes) Took some books in to Hastings for store credit and they ended up coming out to a lot more credit that I'd expected...enough that I should have been able to get Nausicaa and the 4th Wolf's Rain DVD. No Nausicaa, so I got 4 and 5 of Wolf's Rain instead.

Speaking of Nausicaa...everyone scold Sheila for calling herself an anime fan and not knowing what Nausicaa is.

Not a lot to report on for the week so far. Blade of the Immortal, Birds of Prey, Ballad of Sleeping Beauty and Bloodhound were all quite good, but nothing extraoridinarily comment worthy about any of them jumped out. Space Usagi was quite good, but surprisingly light on the humor for a book about a futuristic rabbit samurai in deep space with homages to Nausicaa, Star Wars, and others. Captain Gravity is quite good, but doesn't quite live up to the pure pulp fun of the first mini. Currently reading "Sword of Shibito" which is kind of a gothis-feeling Frankenstein-like tale about an undead samurai...interesting, but currently undecided about it.

Oh! My Goddess was quite lovely and charming, I need a certain Oh! My Goddes fan to tell me about the moie and just what "Adventures of Mini-Goddess" is.

And...test tomorrow in grammar. Echechech.

Hrm...not sure I'm the OMG fan you're talking about, but if you like the OMG OAVs, then you should like the movie, too! It introduces a few new characters and updated character designs which are as good, if not better, than the OAVs.

And The Adventures of Mini-Goddess are just FUN! They're cute little "short" episodes, chock full of laughs. Get the movie, it also has the first episode of Adventures included on it. Image

And, for shame, Shiela! Image

I bought my copy of Nausicaa last night, but have yet to watch it. (Although, I have seen a subpar bootleg of it before.) Disney seems to be doing a great job with the DVDs, IMO.

I thought she was someone classical actually.

* looks up Brewer's *

Yes, she's someone who Odysseus meets on his travels. Playing beach volleyball or something like that. Didn't think Greek princesses did that but it takes all sorts I suppose.

Didn't realise it was an anime. Then again I vaguely recall that someone's making an anime version of "Howl's Moving Castle" (which if this is the case I'm going to have to watch) and also vaguely recall seeing a title, something along the lines of "Laputa: City in the Sky"... I'm going to have to start doing more work on that silly theory of mine about parallels between British and Japanese entertainment...

Oh, and how many episodes are on the "Wolf's Rain" DVDs? Wouldn't mind knowing whether they're appallingly overpriced or just annoyingly overpriced...

You're excuse for not being familiar w/ Nausicaa, as you're even newer to anime than I am and the anime crazy apparently(sadly) hasn't hit your shores yet.

Wolf's Rain is normally overpriced...standard 5 eps for the first disc, 4 eps for subsequent discs...leaves them at about the length of a normal movie.
