All I will say is this:  You know that typical shounen "end of series" plotline?  Where some villain, usually obsessed with the dumb swordweilding hero's (some alterations apply) "true ability" and generally kidnap the heroine to bring him out and make him play into his hands? And he and his primarily male companions take off to save her?  And she usually sits there during the big final fight?  Well here, the big final shounen fight has the dumb swordweilding hero kidnapped and the smart heroine and her mostly female friends take off to save him.

It also has an awesome reversal on the "weak heroine saves hero from his dark side with True Love's Hug/Kiss/Whatever" moment.

All this without having Lina rely on luck, the show rely on fanservice, or undermining or trivializing the male characters.

I may have had sparkly eyes as I watched.

Ok, I will also say this:  Sylphiel, pray you don't come back next season.  The show seems to think stomping on your heart and giggling is fun.

If you stop with this season you've already seen the most perfect version of what Slayers does. The third season to my mind is more of the same, but not as well done as the second season.
