Qwan Vol 4

Qwan gets eaten.  Again.  Fortunately, since he's Qwan, it's more inconvenient than really really bad. Ukitsu grabs the chance to be heroic, cop a feel on Shaga and steal a kiss.  I think I heard some shounen characters scribbling down notes.  The monster then upchucks Qwan, explodes, and Ukitsu joins the ranks of MIA Qwan characters, while Qwan and Shaga get washed back to Earth in the upchuck.  There...are worse things to endure, really.  At least they landed in water.  After learning Qwan is now human, just as he finally remembered what he was supposed to do, Shaga moves them in with a pair of Red Shirt orphans and learns that 17 years have passed.  (Which, based on my limited knowledge of chinese mythology, makes perfect sense.)

Now that he's all human, Qwan is acting almost like a normal kid.  I want to cuddle him a lot.  (Ok, that's not new, but now there's no danger of being eaten or tossed into orbit if he were real and I were to try.)  Meanwhile, Aman has grown from a smart kid into a clever and investigative bishounen, and people are hunting down Shaga and Qwan, suspecting they're Not Normal..  AND EVERYONE ELSE IS STILL MIA!

WHERE'S DAKI?

WHERE'S  CHIKEI?

(And while we're at it, what happened to Ukitsu?)

Is Chikei old?  Is Daki still a kid or grown up?  WHERE? WHAT? HOW?

And why does Amazon not have Vol 5 listed as coming out anytime soon?  Hasn't Vol 4 been out for a while now?

And that was exactly my reaction to volume 4! WTF, Shimizu-sensei? Yes, Shaga is cool, and to have something genuinely bad happen to Qwan is a reasonable development, but where are all the other characters you made us like? Yes, you! (Like, whatever happened to the cool, older bishie astrologer in the first book? I liked him!)

Manga, you fickle thing - you break my heart!

I don't think it'd be as noticable if there was more out, or it came out more quickly(it's actually somewhat following the standard wuxia format of dumping characters for episodes on end for a side story, then coming back to them), but vol 4 came out somewhere mid-last year, and Amazon doesn't list Vol 5 yet...

And yes! Why have we not seen that guy since the first volume!

I see you've fixed that "lack of Byakuya icon" problem...
