Wonder Woman #14-17

In theory, it has been long enough since the atrocity known as Amazons Attack for me to see a reference to it without blood rage rising.
Wonder Woman #14: Hmm…Hippolyta as a jailer? Well, at least she isn’t just sitting there and brooding. And the return of Etta Candy is always a good thing. Diana’s speech, at least, is back the way it should be, but her internal voice is very much Gail Simone’s modern one, not Diana’s more reserved, traditional one. A vast improvement over everything else the last few years, though. However, even with Simone writing, in no universe will Nemesis ever be an acceptable love interest for Diana. (For that matter, no one is.)
#15: The Themiscyra stuff is exactly what WW should be: Amazons and mythology, past and present. That said…it’s not Simone’s fault, but Diana not being able to use her powers in "human" form is just silly and should have been left well in the past(it works well with the camp and cheese WW, but not the modern one.) No need to hack of Hippolyta’s hair, either…I accept her taking on an entire army as suitable compensation, though.
#16: You know, the thing about this backstory of Hippolyta’s generals not wanting Hippolyta to have the only daughter in the nation because she would put her daughter first and overlook her people and duties in favor of her is that they were right, even if their methods were wrong. Much more fighting. Diana and Hippolyta armed to teeth. Diana’s voice is getting better. Diana leading squad of talking warrior gorillas. Happy place.
#17: Thank you, Simone, for not ending your first arc with the mistaken idea that killing off an important character inherently makes your story more dramatic, because, you know, it doesn’t, and you looked like you were headed that way at first.
Good enough that I will overlook Diana being able to go to Themiscyra the issue after saying it was completely lost to her.

I don't know, I just think Diana and Io would be a cute couple. They could double-date with Barda and Scott, and Io could fangirl Barda's Mega-Rod.
(Agree on the Nemesis, though.)
