Amazon is being very, very insistent that I would like this, containing what appears to be OVAs for the Tsubasa and xXxHolic animes.  I have not seen the anime for either series but plan to eventually.  Worth checking out?

(Mind you, Amazon is still insisting that I should read King of the Lamp, and thinks I need duplicate copies of various Cantarella and Tsubasa volumes I've bought from them, and has now added something called Satisfaction Guaranteed to the recs list, but...)

I have it and am about to go watch it after my bath, though I don't know which one to watch first. How about you choose, and I'll report back? :-)

Hmm...Yuuoko or Kurogane...Yuuko or Kurogane...such a difficult choice...

Ok, Yuuko wins.

Okay, I'm off to watch.

The problem with Amazon's recommendation feature is that it keeps going "I see you've bought Blade of the Immortal volume 8! Would you like to purchase volumes 1 through 7?"

Because whoever wrote it is an IDIOT.

And if I buy MOST volumes of a series from them, THEY JUST START OFFERING THE ONES I ALREADY BOUGHT!!!!

The thing that drives me nuts is when it recommends alternate versions of things I've already bought, like when it recommended Saiyuki double barrel dvd because I'd bought the singles.

Amusingly, they did the exact opposite with me...the doublebarrels were out when I started watching, so I was getting those...and they were ofering me the first three singles for weeks.

Okay, that was strange. First, the animation by Production IG is more than a bit surreal. It reminded me of Welcome to the NHK which was animated by Gonzo. Second, the plot reminded me of Agatha Christie on crack, set in the Winchester house (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Winchester_Mystery_House) on LSD. Yuuko is very cool. I switched back and forth between the English and Japanese tracks. (I can put up with spazzy characters like Watanuki better in Japanese.)

I figured they'd do something trippy with the animation, given that the different art style is so central to the manga storytelling. And yeah, guys like Watanuki are a LOT easier in Japanese.

I've been trying to think back 30 years to my middle and high school days, and even though we had the word "spaz", I just can't recall anyone as spazzy as some of these characters like Watanuki and Kazahaya.

He's the Watanuki type character in CLAMP's Legal Drug. Legal Drug skirts much closer to the shounen-ai line than XXXholic does, with Kazahaya in the uke role and Rikuo in the seme role, like Doumeki. In both cases, you have the slimmer, shorter boy with powers that make him vulnerable being protected by the taller, broader, more masculine boy with guardian type powers. In both cases, the uke is very spazzy.
