Big O Season 1, eps 6-9

meganbmooreAaah, forget coherency, lets just have a few spot hits:
*Roger deciding that the only way he'll ever know peace is if he has Dorothy learn to GENTLY play the piano. She eagerly learns, then plays it very, very loudly because it has better results.
*Her piano teacher is a peaceful android who's convinced to pilot mecha and use it to destroy the city, and when he realizes that such things just-aren't-him, he rips his own hands off in a moment of android emo.
*When Dorothy adopts a cat that promptly destroys one of Roger's hourglasses(did I mention he has a huge collection of those?) she decides that his objection is that the cat is grey, not black, and she has the cat wear a black suit.
*She also orders Roger to negotiate so she can keep the cat.
*The cat is actually a little boy turned into a cat(cats and dogs are a rarity in Paradigm City) with alchemy, and he is absorbed into a giant chimaera that kills its creator to save her, and then throws itself into a collapsing, burning building.
*Dorothy appears to be in love with Roger. I suspect it may be reciprocated.
*When Dorothy's kidnapped from the first few episodes reappears, he reprograms Dorothy to literally hug Roger to death. She confesses her love during this, but that may be the reprogramming.
*Norman, sadly, does little, but he is amazingly faithful to his duties, including preparing to go on a deep sea rescue mission to save Roger(Dorothy coopts the mission.)
*Everyone in the city of amnesia has amazing wells of repressed emo.

Date: 2008-03-17 08:18 pm (UTC)I kind of love the randomness of the megadeuses...it's like they're saying "yes, we know mecha is silly and there's no real reason for it, but MECHA SELLS SO WE WILL HAVE MECHA IN EVERY EPISODE!"

Date: 2008-03-18 03:13 pm (UTC)The first season definitely has its weak points and the second season starts going off the rails at the end, but there's a lot to love. Plus, you can play "Guess the city!" with it.
