Claymore Vol 10

I apologize, all the intelligent and competent female fighters kept distracting me this volume.  Also, the stoic angst.

I spent the first half of the volume mostly  "oooo"-ing over the Claymores taking down the awakened ones.  Then we had Undine's story.  I think Undine is probably my least favorite of the Claymores, but that was pretty impressive.  How do you top convincing everyone you're huge and superstrong by using your power to alter your mass, just so you can go around carrying your dead friend's sword along with your own?  It also made me love Helen more, for figuring out both parts of Undine's story, and not pushing it.  Or telling anyone.

Then, of course, we learn that they're small fry that Isley sent out to test them, and JUST AS I WAS GETTING ATTACHED THE MANGAKA OFFED HALF A DOZEN CLAYMORES!!!

*sigh*

And I think Jean's a goner along with them.  *hides Miria, Helen and Deneve away...I'm sure Clare will be just fine, at least until the last volume...*

At least there's a lot more where they came from.

Meanwhile, Raki, looking about 3 or so years older(it can't have been that long since he and Clare separated...) breaks free of his prison...and Priscilla makes him her pet.  That is so not going to go over well with Clare.

Only one volume left until I have to wait for new releases...

I think I would put the angst and badassery and stoicism of any Claymore up against almost any shounen guy of choice.

Except for Manji.  (Well, maybe I'd put Miria or Galatea up against Manji...)

oh cool you collect the claymore manga. I've just started getting into the anime. I need to check out the manga one day...

I am absurdly in love with the Claymore manga. How far into the story has the anime covered for you? Have you made it to the Pieta storyline yet? (After reading that, I have to say that Clare and Raki are so going to go a messed up "Return of the Condor Heroes" route...)

I haven't seen any of the anime yet. I probably will when/if it comes stateside.
