Has anyone seen the following:

Seoul 1945(I think [livejournal.com profile] dangermousie asked about it at one point, but I can't remember if snyone chimed in about it, and I don't remember ever seeing other posts about it. Also, are there ANY subs for it besides on the Chinese release DVDs?)
Fashion '70s
Seo Dong Yo/Ballad of Suhdong/Potato Boy
Dae Jang Geum/Jewel of the Palace
(ok, I know a few have seen it, but would like details)
Huh Joon/Hur Jun

Also, (to come to the cause for the icon) deprived of other entertainments today, I poked around soompi's Emperor of the Sea thread. Apparently, Jung-Hwa is "the cow" because...she only loved Jang Bogo her whole life and never let Yum-Moon believe he had a chance. Uhm...what? It's a bad thing to let a guy know you appreciate his friendship, but you can't return his feelings because you love someone else? She should have lied to him? Let him think he had a chance just because he was there, then dumped him as soon as Bogo came along again?

Mind you, love her as I do, she does make a number of frustrating and difficult decisions(though I admire her for making hard stands and choices, personally) and any female who watches that series is probably going to go "how can you not fall for this guy?" at least once (though, as appealing as Yum Moon was, Jang Bogo was by far the better man, and the better choice for her) but really, calling a woman "the cow" because she wasn't fickle in her love and didn't lead him on? *kicks something*

Here, have an MV of the characters. WARNING: Extremely spoilery after 3:41

Speaking of Yum Moon/Song Il-Gook, I am watching the kmovie Daddy Long Legs and reminded of my longing to see him and Ha Ji Won in a sageuk together.

Also, I read a massive chunk of Carol Berg's second D'Arnath book today. I have decided that she's one of those authors who loves to put her characters through massive angst, pain and trauma, romantic or otherwise. Yet, I am devouring the thing. Probably because I'd be just as mean to my characters if I were a writer. (BUT I'D GIVE THEM HAPPY ENDINGS! Well, many of them. I'm not sure she will...)

ETA: Also, my Hansungbyulgok and Vineyard Man DVDs came today. [livejournal.com profile] ladysaotome, the DVDs play perfect, THANK YOU!!! Hansungbyulgok subs look decent, but with lots of typos.

I have Seoul 1945. The subs are supposed to be decent but I can check if you like once I get access to the DVDs again.

I have Fashion 70s but haven't seen it.

I'd love it if you could check.

Once Upon A Time has me craving Korean period dramas set in the 30s-40s(Yes, I know, CS...)

I'm so glad they play well. I'll start burning Coffee Prince sometime next week. Enjoy!

Daddy Long Legs sounds interesting. I heard it's different than the usual version?

I haven't seen the original DLL, so I don't know about the differences. What I saw, though, was good. I didn't finish it because I wasn't in the mood, but I will later.

I watched Dae Jang Geum ages ago. It's a bit slow, perhaps the same pace as Jumong. It was my first sageuk and I really enjoyed it. The main characters (yes, both good and evil ones), the storyline, and the romance too (it's not the main focus, though, which is what you prefer, right?). I think you'll like it! :)

I think Jumong's pacing is supposed to be similar to that of Emperor of the Sea, so I should be fine there. Sageuks seem to do a good job all around of making all the characters interesting, instead of just having good guys and bad guys.

I also have Fashion 70s, but haven't watched it yet. I've only skimmed through the discs to check that they are working and listened to the OST that came with the set a few times :).

Well, at least I know the music is probably pretty good.
