This is a bit of an odd one.  Something of a scifi noir, our heroine, Real, is the granddaughter of the regent.
She works with an organization that, as near as I can tell, polices robots called "autoraves" and looks for signs that they've been infected by a disease that, I think, makes them think they're autonomous enties.  Or something.  Meanwhile, there are these strange things with dramatic white hair that are going around killing people, and seem to have an interest in Real.

Real starts to uncover what seems to be a conspiracy, though, when she's attacked and she learns that, not only do the higher ups not seem really interested in getting to the bottom of what's going on, but that her personal autorave, Iggy, has had his memories altered, both of the attack, and of their investigation the day before.  A few other important seeming characters who are floating around are Vincent, a young man also being chased by the white haired things, who seems slated for the Damsel In Distress roll, a little girl autorave whose "mother" wanted her programming to be altered to that of a maid when she was able to adopt a "real" baby, and the chief of a department in what I think is the organization Real works for.

Guys, this is the kind of show that has two minutes of footnotes and explanations at the end of the episodes so that it can explain what you just watched to you.  While I wish it were a little less dense(something I don't say a lot) I do like Real (and her Very Dramatic Eyeshadow) and the scifi noir feel, and the story seems interesting.  I just wish it were a little more approachable.  I have a feeling that at one point, I'm going to just stop following the plot and enjoy watching the scifi noir heroine shoot things.

And I have been capping Real and her Very Dramatic Eyeshadow, so here, have a few.

Also, Real's hairstyle reminds me a bit of Lenalee's. (D.Gray-Man)

Oh, looks intersting, anime-Matrix kind of like!

A fair enough comparison, based on what I've seen. I've heard conflicting reports on how this one plays out, though.

So far, it's rather fun.

So that's her name! I kept hearing "Rave" but it was written as Rei-1 in the subtitles. :S

Anyway, I think what mainly kept me watching Ergo Proxy was Real's coolness. Loved that first picture of her.

I've seen Icons of that pic before. Unless I end up hating the series in the end, I suspect I'll end up with an icon or two of her.

What a coincidence that we're watching the same anime. I'm up to episode 15 or something... I like the animation and the characters, but the conversations are kind of boring.. it's like those kind of movies you get bored while watching because it makes you lost and you don't understand most of it, and then by the end it gets interesting because the puzzle comes together... I guess this is what I should be expecting.

The conversations are...very caught up in being smart. If that makes sense.

Actually, Vincent is the main character! :D That doesn't really become obvious until ep 3 or 4 though. For me, the show started out incredibly dense but became fairly easy to follow a couple of episodes in - no less strange, but easy to follow. I enjoyed it a lot, despite (or maybe partially because of, lol) the pretentiousness.

There are a couple of completely cracked out episodes in the teens, and I swear, even if nothing else made it worth sticking it out for the whole series, those episodes did.

Hmm...hopefully Vincent becomes more interesting, then...

When it started out I found him kind of annoying, but he grew on me very quickly. I think he is the most precious darling thing ever. XD And wait 'till you see how lovely his eyes are when he's not squinting at everything!

Nice character design. Seems reminiscent, to me, of something Marc Silvestri would draw, particularly that first pic.

Actually, the art in general reminds me of Witchhunter Robin.

Hmmm...I can see that, too. I should get that out and finish watching it. I don't think I've watched but 2-3 episodes.

I would've used my EP icon except that it's sort of spoilery.

I think anyone who stays until episode 4 or 5 will find the plot more interesting. We just have to get through all the dim lighting and murky dialogues.

I should be through about ep 6 or so before work tomorrow.
