I continue to flipflop between really liking Brenda and the idea or the show, and not being fond of how they choose to handle some things.

1.4: Show Yourself: A retired marine colonel thinks his son is behind recent gang deaths.

I don’t know. I like that the main victims finally weren’t women killed for reasons relating to sex (the motivation for the killings was the death of a woman, the circumstances surrounding her death could have as easily been male. I’m also glad we got a bit of a look into another member of Brenda’s staff, and that she and Captain Taylor(I think I’ve learned his name) worked well together for once. I found it hard to swallow, though, that Brenda would so easily hand over the information she did like that. It felt out of place and a bit of OOCness to suit the plot. And the ending felt a bit random.

1.5: Flashpoint: A psychologist working with teens with drug problems is murdered.

Yes, well, I do believe I now hate most of Brenda’s staff. I sincerely hope they eventually reveal that there’s more to their problems with her than being upset she doesn’t hold their hands and tell them what beautiful, wonderful people they are every day, and bakes them cookies. It would help if they were getting more development. I seem to consistently hate her boss more and more. No, jerk, you do not get to pass off all the blame to Flynn. YOU are the one who gave someone you know dislikes Brenda information that you knew she didn’t want spread around. What Flynn did with it is his fault, that you gave him the info and had no business doing so is yours. Also, Brenda and Fritz are very cute. And I loved Gabriel’s reaction to Fritz.

1.6: Fantasy Date: A congresswoman’s daughter is found raped and murdered in her home, and an ad for her requesting rape is discovered on an online dating site.

And another one where the victim is a woman and the death is directly related to sex. This time, though, it didn’t bother me as much. I think maybe the show is starting to find a good balance, and a lot of my overwhelming hatred for some cast members from the last episode is gone. Surprisingly, I’m not even bothered (narratively) by Brenda’s near rape. Probably because she saved herself and the aftermath was well done.

1.7: You Are Here: A judge is killed and his autistic son is the only witness.

I actually don’t have a lot to say about this one. I think the comments comparing Brenda’s normal activities and autism were uncalled for, and I wish I’d been wrong when I guessed the killer and why when the mother showed up, but the episode was probably as well done as it could have been. This is another one, though, where I don’t really approve of Brenda’s method’s at times. She’s a little too cheery about obeying the letter of the law/her words, and not the spirit at times.

1.8: Batter Up: A gay man is beat to death as part of what is believed to be a string of hate crimes.

Another one where I wish I’d been wrong when I guessed it at the beginning, but still well done. But more importantly, there were KITTIES! Lots of kitties! While I was stroking a cat Bond Villain style! Now there needs to be an episode with puppies.

1.9: Good Housekeeping: The body of a young illegal immigrant is found and what looks to be an open and shut case isn’t.

And the third one in a row where I wanted my immediate conclusion to be wrong and it wasn’t. But also the second where I can’t make myself condemn Brenda’s methods in getting what she wants, even though I really disapprove. (The first was the one with the Russian prostitutes.) Also, more kitties. And Gabriel being cute and kitty sitting.
