I have decided that the have Ronon waving guns around a lot while bare armed to distract us from the plot. Rather like certain parts of SG-1. Except that SG-1 at its worst didn't have the issues this show has.
If the world loved me, this show would be Elizabeth in command and the team consisting of Teyla, Lorne, Ronon and not-crazy!Ford.
Also, I notice that, while Elizabeth is getting to work in some mighty fine verbal smackdowns, she isn't getting to do anything else.
At some point, I really should go through and change my tags to have different tags for the 2 shows...

2.5: Condemned:
Utopian society with dark underbelly that exploits to weaker ones. Joy. Why did no one remember Elizabeth is a politician while the boys were badmouthing politicians? Why was Prison Island Place populated exclusively by males? Anyone else notice they forgot all about the nice local girl who warned them things weren’t right? Not to mention the other innocent people who were being sent off to Prison Island Place. Lorne gets bonus points for being all nice and polite and properly respectful to Elizabeth. Leader of Prison Island Place also gets points for calling McKay a braggart.
Upsides to the ep were Elizabeth giving the leader of the planet a verbal smackdown and Teyla finally getting to fight this season. And Teyla breaking the stick over her knee to make weapons, and Sheppard just hurting himself when he tried.
I think Ronon was sleeveless most of the time to distract us from the plot.
2.6: Trinity:
Ronon being puppylike and wanting to go offworld with Teyla within the first 10 minutes is the right way to go. Though she might want to teach her bulldog diplomacy. Possibly, she should use her fists next time she tries, and maybe draw a little blood. I actually really liked the subplot of his learning there were other survivors of his planet, up until he tricked Teyla. At least she didn’t let him get away with it.
The main plot with the Ancient weapon was more fun the half dozen times it was Jack and Daniel in Sheppard and McKay’s roles. McKay’s ego and screw ups tend to get people killed more often than Daniel’s, too. Jerk Commander loses even more points for trying to blame the dead guy. Elizabeth wins points for not letting him bully her. And I...I would like to know how a shiny weapon outweighs ripping a hole in the fabric of the universe. I think McKay is trying to match “oops, I woke up the alien vampires.” I hope that solar system was uninhabited.
2.7: Instinct:
I think I saw this episode of SG-1 once. Except then, it was Teal’c’s old girlfriend saying she’d telepathically convinced her symbiote to turn good. It got a host and killed her.
Though the Teyla/Ronon “let me teach you how to deal with these silly humans we’re stuck with and keep them alive in spite of themselves” tag team remains fun. We’ll skip Sheppard’s “Hey, there are 2 of us and one spent 7 years tracking and killing Wraith. It’s best if that’s the one who stays and looks after the hurt teammate is the hunter.”
2.8: Conversion:
I think this episode was an excuse to have Sheppard beat Teyla in a sparring match. And outrun Ronon. And what is it with this show having military commanders be sexist jerks to Elizabeth and pull the “stupid woman in charge” thing with Elizabeth, and then flirt with her? (BTW, I don’t count Sheppard in this category, as he at least respects her in general, but just has authority issues. I want to strangle the show for its message there, but he at least has authority issues with male commanders, too.) At least she doesn't really let him get away with it.
I can’t even get into the sheer race skankiness in this episode. The black guy gives in immediately to the drug addiction and revels in it, but the white guy hates it and fights it and immediately seeks help when he knows there’s a problem? *sigh*
