So, while I was eating my dinner in the break room, I was about 25% paying attention to whatever politic talk show was on, but ended up paying attention to one segment .

Apparently, there's a rap MV getting a lot of attention right now because in it, one girl kisses another girl to get her boyfriend's attention.

The host asked his male guest about what implications he thought a popular video with girls kissing would have, and the guest said he thought it was sad that the only reason the song was getting any attention was because the artist pulled a stunt in the MV, not because of any quality of the song itself, and that it had to be bad for the music industry because it seemed that songs got popular because of stunts, not because they were good.

Then the host asked his female guest about what implications she thought a popular video with girls kissing would have, and the guest said she thought it was sad because it was sending a message that girls had to be desperate to get a guy's attention, including undressing and kissing other girls not because they wanted to, but because they had to to get the attention.

At which point, the host looked very annoyed (I guess because they weren't talking about whether girls kissing was right or wrong?) and abruptly announced they were moving on.

Apparently, I am easily amused.

Haha, oh silly guests, thinking the actual girls kissing part is the irrelevant part. Don't they know all that HOMO HOMO GAY stuff is scandalous?!

I loved how the host was SO PUT OUT that they weren't giving their opinions on the morality of homosexuality, especially since he billed the segment as it being a video about lesbians, and in the MV's story, they only kissed to get the guy's attention.

I LOVE both their answers, though. *cackles*

That's because, while blatantly trying to avoid the homosexuality topic, they were both worthwhile answers.

I was anticipating foot stamping. Sadly, it didn't happen.

I'm amused at how much mileage people can get out of the same arguments OVER AND OVER AND OVER. Clearly this host needs a little more femmeslash in his life.

Well, hey, if they're given an opening...

One wonders why anybody even cares anymore, but then I remember that some people just can't stop living in an ideal, straight, macho past that never in fact existed.

IMO, being politicians themselves(I think) they were far too smart to be led into stating a concrete opinion on homosexuality either way.

I think it's the only time one of those political shows has ever entertained me.
