Hmm...I forgot that for what's technically a fanservice-y "girl with guns" manga*, this actually keeps the fanservice fairly low key.

Did anyone else think a lot of this volume was placeholder material?  Just moving things around for the climax in the background with filler in the foreground?  I'm used to that in longer series, but not a 5 volume series.  The whole thing with the coach obsessed with getting Kasumi on his team felt like a joke Fujisawa never got to use in GTO, and not really a good one at that.  I actually would have liked seeing Kasumi having fun in school and getting to be normal and Kai forced to pretend to be a normal human being, but the whole school thing seemed to be a tool for the coach joke, and introducing a whole new group of villains.

I am, though, glad Kido didn't get shuffled off into limbo because Kasumi has a new partner now.

Hmm.  Despite how it sounds, I did enjoy this volume quite a bit.  I just wish more time had been spent on existing characters and plot elements, instead of introducing new  ones with only one volume left.  (And it does feel like an intended pen-ultimate volume, not one meant to kick of a long second plotline.)

 
*You know, "girls with guns"seems fairly common for anime, but not so much with manga.  Licensed manga, at least.

Isn't RHR only 2 volumes total?

If more of the mangaka's work gets licensed, I hope it's more along the lines of this than GTO.

Entirely possible that it is, I haven't checked ANN recently on that.

Is this the same author as GTO?
