OMG WTF WHAT WHAT WHAT???

MERGING???  RAFAELA AND LUCIELA ARE MERGING???  (And, uhm...did anyone who saw that page go "wait...the f/f is becoming canon, now?" before they noticed what it was?)

And Riful wants them to become something new and be her pet.  But...but...I want my Rafaela back the way she was...

And is Galatea going to stay there and be a nun?  Not expected, but fun.  Do we think she's just going to keep Clarice and Miata?  Who...uhm...now run through chapels wearing bathtowels or less and yell about bathing and sleeping together.

Will we ever see what their stomachs look like?  And I like that something actually addressed that putting bandages outside clothes is kinda stupid.  (I mean, really, how many things do that so that we'll see they're still wounded?  I mean, yeah, sometimes it a hurried "we can't do it the right way, lets just stop the bleeding" thing, but...)

And Miria is sending people off to deal with personal stuff.  Like finding out the boy you kissed that one time and have been looking for ever since is  now traveling around with your archenemy.  Is anyone remotely surprised that Helen and Deneve went off together?  Also:

Cynthia, Tabitha and Uma:  "No no no, we don't need to go anywhere.  We'll stay and keep Miria company because she'll get sad and lonely if we all leave, even if she won't admit it."
Miria:  "That's sweet, girls, but please go and make sure Clare doesn't run wild and do something stupid.  You wouldn't believe the stuff that happened the last time I let her run off and do her own thing.  I'll just be awesome with Galatea and maybe pick up a few fanboys while you're gone."

(Helen so very, very much didn't approve of Clare going off alone, either.)

Hmm...anyone else starting to think the series may be getting ready to enter the final stages?  Like, wrap up around Ch 100 or so?

And by now, I mean entering the final arc. We all know how long those final arcs can last...

Yeah, but Yagi doesn't really like to waste time...

I think how much longer it is at least partly relies on how long it takes to resolve Clare finding Raki, and the fallout, and then Dreads Girl(does she give anyone else Jean flashbacks?) and the OMG THEY'RE MERGING sisters and Riful. And then the Taking On the Organization arc.

As things seem now, at least.

Yeah, Yagi-sensei is very efficient in terms of setting up plot and characterization. It's... kind of refreshing. But also kind of "Wait, nooooo!"

I...think I like the idea of the series not continuing on and on forever. It's been so fastpaced and intense this far, I wouldn't mind it ending the same way.

I actually wouldn't mind seeing Helen and Deneve separated for a while. We've only ever really seen them as a unit, not as individuals. Be interesting to see how they function without having the other nearby. (And did you notice Helen's reaction to the thought of their little Clare going off alone?)

Ever since Teresa showed up, the series has felt like it was heading one specific place, with now intentions of detouring.

While I agree this may be the final arc, I think there's still plenty more chapters to go on. I would be sad to lose Claymore, but happy that it ends in a good manner. Too many manga have fucked up endings that don't go anywhere: "Write your own fanfic, fool, you're not getting any closure here."

The merging thing... that's just wrong on so many levels. I hope there's a good explanation for it, cause so far the life force flow thing ain't flying with me.

I <3 Riful, the single best developed, most interesting character along with Galatea. More Riful, plz.

That's why I'm currently pegging it ending at about ch 100. Yagi tends to go at a pretty brisk speed.

I think the whole bit where the organization experimented on them contributes to the merging.

I usually dislike the tee hee schemers (I can tolerate and sometimes like them as benevolent allies-Yukimura, Urahara, Shigure-but they largely irritate me, but I usually dislike them when the twisted villain aspect is added) but I love Riful.

Entirely possible. I'm still waiting for a more detailed explanation though. So far Yagi's done a good job of explaining things within the accepted parameters of his universe.

That's an interesting point of view. I've never considered Riful to be tee hee schemer. She's childish and playful, not entirely mature, and not entirely sane either. She's got all these remnant behavioral traits of a small child, which is entirely understandable knowing her history. I don't think she's pretending to be cutesy, she's just a spoiled baby-like, hair-tentacled menace. :D

As for Urahara, I have this pet theory that he's the mastermind behind it all.

I think it's the genuine childishness that saves her.

She definitely has the tee hee schemer elements, though, if you look at her interactions with the characters, it's just that Yagi doesn't rely on that to make her interesting.

It feels like its heading towards the end, but maybe there will be some sort of epic twist. Maybe. It seems a little unlikely though. (And what is more twisty then the two sisters merging?)

And I bet the distinctive Claymore stomach is going to be a total let down, like a birthmark in the shape of a smiley face or something.

I think the only straight people are Clare, Isley, and Raki. Poor Jean...the love was true, but onesided...

But yeah, it's hard to imagine what he could make even twistier, betwen OMG THE MERGING and Miria's Big Reveal.

;.; I don't want Claymore to end. I've been reading this since before it was scanlated (when I had no idea wtf was going on). It was my first non-shoujo!!

on the same hand let me just say how bleeding happy I am that Claymore is one of the VERY FEW mangas I can recommend and say 'look if you only read the first couple of volumes and dismiss it as the same ol' monster of the week shite you are dead wrong. SERIOUSLY DEAD WRONG. stick around for the load of fun it becomes' I have never once gottne the feeling of 'oh god. another fight. can't we have plot and resolution?' like with Inu-Yasha or as of late Red River is beginning to wear thin on me while reading this series.

HEY maybe we'll get lucky and after this is wrapped up we'll learn more about the outside world (so to speak).

see Red River (Anatolia Story, whatever you wanna call it...why they called it Red River to begin with is irksome) was also one I read before it was out in English or scanlated. I love Chie Shinohara (mostly her horror/mysteries) and since it was ancient times I was like 'i'm all about it'. plus I was on a retro-manga look...

now though I just feel like the plot is going 'DAMN that Nakia's betrayal we saw from a mile away! yes we won! DAMN that Nakia's treacherywe knew about ages ago! Hey we defeated her! Sweet Ishtar that Nakia has a million lives!' its just bothersome. And I dislike what they did to Nefetiti and Ramses. A LOT. don't mess with my egyptian queens! don't ever!

its only 6 more volumes or so so I'll keep going just to see when they finally defeat Nakia once and for all.

Despite my claims that I only really half-ship Pris/Isley in this series, Helen/Deneve is probably the closest thing I have to a real OTP.

I figure Miria and Galatea both noted that Clare had fanboys and they didn't, and will be fixing that. BTW, magicnoire also has a flail party for the chapter at her LJ.
