comics: Annihilation: Conquest #3-6
Aug. 10th, 2008 03:36 pmWell, that was pretty darn spiffy.
So, I've kinda quit paying attention to new series announcements the last few months. Is there any Annihilation stuff still going on/coming soon?
*Nova shows up*
Me: OMGWTF WARLOCK?!?!?!?!
*two seconds pass*
Me: Dang it! I knew I should have alternated Nova and Annihilation issues!
That was something of a shock. Which is absolutely not to be read as "an unpleasant shock."
While I think I preferred the lead-in minis here to the ones in the first Annihilation arc, I think I preferred the first main Annihilation arc to this one. That said, this one dealt more with areas of the MU that I'm familiar with, though I'm not sure how much that affected me either way.
I was surprised both that it took until the last issue for Nova to catch up, and that the rebels/heroes stayed in separate factions the whole time. Probably, they just needed Nova to get their act together. (What? Ultron was squashed five minutes after he got there...)
I wish they hadn't offed both Moondragon (wwwwhhhhhhhyyyyyyyyy????) and Praxagora, and put Mantis in a coma on top of that, but I am glad that Phyla's the one who finished Ultron off.
No sign of Super-Skrull at the end. I'm guessing he's off angsting over the bit where his robot girlfriend got turned into a bomb and blew up (wwwwwhhhhhhyyyyyyyyyyy?) Also no reaction from Drax over Moondragon's death. And...I'm not real clear on the status of Hala at the end. Ronan and Wraith seem to be there in the epiloguie, so i'm guessing it didn't blow up after all.

Date: 2008-08-10 09:23 pm (UTC)It will kinda spin mostly out of Secret Invasion, with Black Bolt and Emperor Vulcan going head to head, but it will draw in Nova and the Guardians.
So, not exactly Annihilation 3, but kindasorta.
