New Diamondback at Marvel?

What kind of heresy is this? There is one and ONLY one Diamondback, and her name is Rachel Leighton All impostors shall be smote and destroyed!

Yeah, so, uhm, what's with a new(FAKE!DIENOWIMPOSTOR!) Diamondback? Anyone wanna fill me in?

A woman going by the name Diamondback, and not Rachel, turned up in "Secret War" as a pretty disposable, generic, bland character, who will probably never be seen again.

Given the great amount of love for the character that was evident in the arc and that, except for one pre-programmed thing, the fake acted like the real Diamondback would have, AND the fact that the real one showed up at the end, I didn't mind. In fact, I quite enjoyed that arc. Probably the only decent thing in Disassembled.

I think what happened is that BMB (who I have very little respect for as a writer) likely forgot who the real Diamondback was, and by the time he figured it out, realized that the REAL Diamondback wouldn't fit into his story. So, he changed it to make his Diamondback out to be a second DB.

Can you tell that I don't put much stock in BMB's writing?

I made the horrible mistake of reading House of M #1 (just because I don't like saying a book is bad without reading it first) and throughout the little Avengers/X-men conference there I was thinking Bendis doesn't know any of these chars. Not one.
