Dokkoida?! is apparently a spinoff of some other manga or anime that I’m not familiar with. I’m not overly worried about that, as I probably wouldn’t notice that if there weren’t references to an original work in the author’s notes. I am not reading for plot, anyway. I am reading because it is by Yu Yagami who, in one work, decided to create a post-apocalyptic world menaced by rampaging appliances with a heroine who was raised by pigeons and a hero who wants to fix the world by punching the Earth’s core. At another point in time, he(she?) created a series about three people transported to another world who end up traveling with a sorceress in the form of a small animal and strip any elf they meet to see if part of the spell is a tattoo on their body. One does not read this for plot. One reads it for crack.
Suzuo is a college student looking for a part time job, and learns that he can’t be rehired for his old job because of the recession. A little girl named Tanpopo offers him a job testing out a belt that will transform him into a robotic superhero in a competition to represent her company with the Intergalactic Police.. He thinks this is a joke. Later, everyone he calls yells hat they’re ruined, and he decides it’s because of the recession, leading him to think Japan is in the middle of a depression. In truth, An A-Class Intergalactic Villain named Dr. Marronflower, who rides a giant drill, is attacking the stores and wreaking them. Dr. Marronflower is one of several villains who will be sent to Earth as part of the competition and attempt to unmask both Dokkoida and Neruloid Girl (in actuality Asaka, a purple haired, beer drinking, chain smoking brawler who shares Suzuo’s refrigerator.)
The other villains are Edel, a little girl who dresses up like a princess for battle and has a wand and supervillain laugh. And makes giant clay golems. The other is Hyacinth, a dominatrix whose underling literally has a zoo living inside of him, and can transform into the other animals. The runner of the contest decided to put all five and their sidekicks in the same apartment complex. Despite their very obvious appearances and mutual inability to lie or keep a secret to save their lives, no one has caught on yet.
The battlesuit also has a theme song that has hypnotic waves that turn even the meekest person “into a passionate, justice-lovin’ hero.” These are called “hot-blooded alpha waves.” Except they kind of forgot to include the hot-blooded alpha waves, so Suzuo only thinks he has them helping him.
Dokkoida?! isn’t played as straight as Hikkatsu: Strike A Blow to Vivify but it’s almost as funny and cracktastic.

It's one of the ones you've amused me within the last couple of years by describing its insanity but if the "Raised by pigeons" one is the one you've named I must have been thinking of the wrong one...
