Oh Clamp, did you really have Hikaru say “Let’s be OT3!”? I think you did. And…uhm…do we know how much later that epilogue was? I like to think that Lantis didn’t pretty much propose to Hikaru until she was 16 or so. Except I’m not sure Hikaru actually thinks like that or feels that way yet.

I admit, I find Eagle interesting and sympathetic, but I don’t think I actually like him very much.

And Lantis needs to be more careful when catching and clutching Hikaru in dramatic scenes! He could crush her!

So, Mokona is God? That’s…interesting. WTF Clamp? Allow me a moment to be irritated with it for seeing how utterly miserable the pillar system made everyone, and still wanting to keep it going. And now I must speculate what that may mean for Tsubasa.

I did like Aska realizing that she couldn’t be the pillar because she loved people too much, but wanting to see it through to the end.

Alas, poor Ascot. Umi still sees him as a little kid. I think he’s doomed. Maybe if he took off that headgear so he didn’t look so much like an oversized kid. *Pets Fuu and Ferio for being both cute and age appropriate.*


So, I like this, but think it was a bit too sparse. I could have done with at least another volume in each part to flesh out some characters and relationships. I’m happy that the main relationship focus is the relationship between Hikaru and her two mommies Umi, and Fuu, but there are a few other importatn things that I think could have used development. And now I feel compelled to track down all the Magic Knight Rayearth nods and appearances in Tsubasa. Perhaps I should just do a reread when I finish catching up on all the Clamp stuff I have/need to get.

Unleash all MKR thoughts you have been holding back on me!

I think the hair itself wouldn't be so bad without the thing that looks like CCS!Sakura's hat, only 10 times as big...

It's been a while since I've read the manga so I can't remember exactly but I'd always parsed it as Hikaru being 16 or whatever in the epilogue. Old enough for Lantis to ask her about marriage on earth but still young enough for her to want to "marry" everyone.

I do feel the same way about Eagle, BTW. I thought he was compelling, sympathetic character... but I didn't like him at all.

Yeah. It's clearly a while later and she was 14 in the first part, then part 2 was a year later, and it has clearly been a while so she is at least 16 so I can coo a bit but not be "uhm...no. (Primera and I had the same reaction, though for different reasons.) I do get the impression that she's spent a lot of time with both Eagle and Lantis since then, to make him feel comfortable about that.

The thing about Eagle is that the way he deals with his angst and issues leaves me really cold. It makes me go "yeah, that sucks...call me when you're over it." But...uhm...I have that reaction to characters a lot, and then find out they're the ones everyone else in the fandom squees over(see also: Yukimura, Allen Chezar/Shezar/whatever.)

Uhm...have we ever not had the same opinion about a male character?

...I don't think so. I think the degree to which we hold a certain opinion varies (like I think you dislike Yukimura whereas I'm just rather apathetic and unethusiastic about him) but yeah, more or less the same.

More accurately, I like Yukimura but dislike some tropes associated with him, and his he deals with how romantic angst is one of my most disliked tropes ever. I think I like him more than you, but am also more annoyed by him.

Maybe that's what it is. I'm just uninterested in him so while I don't like him, I also don't dislike him enough to get annoyed with his character.

I think I find him interesting mostly for the history involved, and for his (platonic please) relationships with his subordinates, but less so in isolation.

And part of my not seeming to like him likely has to do with my bitterness over his getting an ability, removing about the only thing that did make him interesting to me as an individual.

(Now, Allen, I do dislike. A lot. He made me want to throw things because I think he did mislead and use both Millerna and Hitomi, but that's another story.)

Mostly it was of the nature of "OMG THEY DIDN'T JUST DO THA....THEY FUCKING TOTALLY DID!" It was feints and double feints and who you thought was the bad guy wasn't the bad guy and .... gah!

See, after a year of xxxHolic and Tsubasa (plus the first 6 volumes of CCS), this didn't break me much beyond the Mokona reveal and "Lantis! Wait a couple more years!"

I'm not sure how you feel about torrents, but you can definitely find the remastered version there. I found it...then bought the second season.

For me the manga doesn't compare even one bit to the anime. I don't much like Eagle myself but the anime definitely gives him more motivation and character. ^^
