Ooh, pimping Claymore. A noble mission!
How about: main character Clare has her legs chopped off by much stronger woman. And has to sit there, slowly reattaching her legs with her demonic powers while said stronger woman beats Clare's underling/stray puppy half to death?
Or: main character Clare loses an arm in a fight with stronger foe. A Claymore from her past, Irene (who killed her mentor/mother-figure, to boot) rescues her and trains her in a new kick-ass sword technique. And then when Clare can't level up enough, Irene calmly chops her own arm off and gives it to Clare so she can fight at full power again.
Actually, there are just too many cool things in Claymore...
