So, is it over?  Can I poke my head out now?

(Am I the only one who wasn't really in either camp?  One was too conservative for me, the other not conservative enough.  Not to mention they both often seemed more interested in saying they had a point than the point itself.  Mind you, I don't think either would result in the downfall of the nation, either.)

ETA:  So many posts about celebrating in the streets and I have to drive home in an hour and twenty minutes.  *gets mildly concerned*  *lives close to college area*

I think it's over. Because more people on my f-list posted in the last five minutes than usually post in like a whole day.

*will refrain from doing so, because what I would say, I have said, and it's not like I helped much anyway...*

I had almost 2 pages of new posts in about 40 minutes...

(Since I'm trapped at work, I'll need to hunt down McCain and Obama's speeches when I get home.)

You must have a bigger f-list than I do. D: That's a lot...

I am feeling the same way. alkdsjf;adkf;. Never was convinced either candidate was better than the other.

Better or worse, really.

Ditto for their VPs. (Actually, I think Palin could become a decent candidate with experience and learning to compromise, but that's a long ways off, and I'm still not sure I'd support her. Biden...rubs me extremely wrong.)

E-everyone rubs me wrong, sob. Biggest thing I don't understand is what got people so excited about Obama. Even people in other countries are freaking out all over my f-list. I just... don't think he's all that different from any other politician.

Yeah, pretty much. I think what holds me back with him is that he seems so gung-ho about things, and I like a feeling of restraint and self-control.

Biden has the Violence Against Women Act in his resume. Which doesn't forgive everything but soothes me when he says something dumb. Which is often.

Biden is odd for me. In terms of what he's done and issues, I feel I should be supporting him, but when I watch or read about him...

Eh, he may just rub you the wrong way. It happens. I was completely cold about him-- violence against women act aside-- until I saw a fluff-piece profile on how he coped after his wife and daughter died, and how he and his sons 'learned to love again' and let his current wife into their lives. It was sappy as hell, but I felt like I knew him and liked him more then.

I should note that I don't think you or anyone should love him for this reason-- just telling you about my own reaction.

Come on and just join us in our joy. He's a little too conservative for me too, but this is amazing and I think he will lay a lot of groundwork for a much more liberal future. You can't expect the whole country to jump to liberalism after having been very conservative for so, so long.

I favor a happy medium, really. (Cliche as it is, I think an Obama/Clinton ticket would have been best. It's not like she killed the country the first 8 years, and I think she would have helped balance him out.)

How would she have helped to balance him out? The only positive things I think she'd bring would be universal healthcare.

I was thinking more in terms that I don't get a feeling of self-control from him, and her experience.

I'm wading through the wall of posts as well. I might be a little more enthusiastic, but not as much as the rest of my flist is :)

I was just presented with walls of cheering, and ad to investigate to find out what they were even talking about, as I'm at work and haven't been stalking newswires.

I'm cautiously optimistic. Really, it depends on what happens once he is president. Anyone can talk; I'm pretty suspicious of politicians in general, so I'll believe change when I see it.

Nope. Not just you. I didn't even bother to re-register to vote because I couldn't bring myself to buy into any of the candidates' shuck and jive spiels. I'd give it a few more hours before poking my toes in the water though. =-P

Oh, I voted (my mother would never recover if I didn't, in addition to everything else) I just have problems viewing either as the best or worst choice.

Times like this call for SMALLER FLIST! like mine! *beams* only like 5 posts about it so far lol.

And it seems most of my flist peeps and myself weren't fully for one or the other.

I'm sorry if I contributed to that, but I really wanted to say something. It'll probably die down pretty soon-the first shock is the greatest.

Eeeh, I get the enthusiasm. I just can't remember the last time I saw the f-list without at least 2-3 posts on the subject. I think it's died down a bit for the night already.

I've mostly been enjoying watching the election because American politics are so crazy and different from our own. Like if Obama ran here he'd be right-wing conservative, which is something I *never* vote for (go for Social-Dems, Left-Wing or Green Party usually) but in the greater scale of things I'm more okay with him than McCain.

My friends list is groaning with posts as well. I am generally very cynical about politicians and as an Australian, we normally get squished by US/UK anyway, so I will wait and see if it makes a difference for us :D

I wasn't really fond of either candidate either, and I'm very glad that I'm currently in Japan so I was able to miss basically all of the drama that surrounded the election and the lead up to it.

I'm not crazy about either one of them either, heretical as it may be among my flist to say so. But I was VERY concerned about one of the VP picks, which ended up being the strongest factor in my vote.

I'm sick of politics. This election was dragged out way too long. I just hope the country ends up okay... hahahahaha.
