Cardcaptor Sakura: Master of the Clow Vol 3

You know, with the hints as subtle as a ton of bricks, I’m not sure a person could miss out on who/what Fujikata is, not to mention Eriol’s girlfriend. Also, I had somehow managed to forget that Nadeshiko was 16 and his student when they married.

And we are very, very happy to have more Tomoyo this volume. She hasn’t been doing enough lately. And we are happy to see that she ships Syaoran/Sakura. Eriol seems to, too.

Actually, everyone but Sakura seems to ship them*, and that’s only because she’s clueless. We approve of the girl being the only one who can’t tell that the guys is nuts for her, as long as the text isn’t looking down on her for it. Then we get irritated.

And all the failed attempts to confess! And the blushing! And the chopstick/pencil case! And did I mention then probably-unhealthy amount of blushing?

Nice to see that Toya confessed his love finally said what he wanted to to Yukito. (Not that there wasn’t blatant pandering to slash fans with the buildup or anything…) But does this mean that Yue/Yukito is permanently Yue now?

And finally: Eriol has moved on from giant teddy bears of doom to a flood of stuffed sheep? He really does just like Sakura to be surrounded by cute things, doesn’t he?

I can’t help but notice, though, that there doesn’t really seem to be any danger to Sakura in the second half. Granted, this is because her opponent here is someone testing her who doesn’t want her hurt instead of wild cards who want to be free and she’s a threat to that. Of course, I doubt the target audience really cares about that.

*Well, Sakura and Toya. But older brothers don’t quite count in these situations.

It's my personal belief that Syaoran is the cutest blusher to ever blush. If you've ever seen the extra Honey Milk Stories in the art book, he actually faints.

I confess that I mostly snickered at the pandering. I think because it was so...obvious. As in "body language says this BUT TOYA HAS VERY SERIOUS THINGS TO TALK ABOUT, OK???"

I think the first time was probably both. Then he kept trying to get 10 seconds so he could blurt out the most important. ithink the best part, though, was Yue's whole "I will die for Sakura!" and Toya was 'yeah...look, you keep her alive, but I'd kinda like my sister and my boyfriend, if that's ok..."
