Hmm…so Belus helped raise new!Ash? Interesting. We also appreciate the Belus/Ash death glares when Pamela “introduces” them. As well as new!Ash and friends drugging Pamela (ok, no, we don’t like the drugging itself…) and the only way Belus can save her is to stab his own heart. We approve of “self-mutilation means true love.” (Sure, Belus knew he’d live, but it’s the thought that counts.)
Belus really does hate being called on feelings though, doesn’t he? (Actually, my theory is that this is all a game to him and that he won’t realize he actually does love Pamela-instead of faking it-until the game is over, when it’ll likely be too late.)
Meanwhile in the backstory, was have past!Ash delivering one of those glorious lines to a Pretty Young Thing about having a petrified heart. It doesn’t top the one in Samurai 7, but it’ll do. And the priest who was hunting Pamela was in lust with her? *sigh* Cliché, but fitting for the story and time period. He also apparently sold his soul to Belial, who I am struggling to not compare to Angel Sanctuary’s version. Belial is also probably Belus, if my theory is correct.
And was that a battered and nekkid Alecto I saw for a moment there? Please let there be more Alecto in the future.
Did I mention yet the bit wehere Belus stabs himself in the heart to save Pamela? (This is after dorktastically tossing a rose in her lap at the beginning of the volume.)
