Did I mention that some sort of robot woman started tearing apart Michael’s men and talking about Setsuna being her master? I probably did. Turns out she’s Kira’s sword. Which, IIRC, is actually a manifestation or some such of Alexiel’s sword. Which is Kira. Who is Lucifer. Who also goes by Lucifel. Regardless, Setsuna seems to think that’s pretty cool, what with the slaughtering anyone in his way bit.

Then he helps Michael work through that massive brother complex (during which, it’s revealed that Michael still looks young because he wants Lucifer to be able to recognize him or some such) and they decide to storm Heaven together. Then they learn that Rosiel infected Setsuna’s eye when he skewered it a volume or so ago that lets Rosiel talk to Setsuna, and Setsuna see through Rosiel’s eyes. Setsuna eventually deals with this by picking up a sword and stabbing out his own eye to break the connection, after he sees Sara’s trial. Somewhere in there, I think Rosiel took over Setsuna’s body and taunted Michael about him and Sevy being in love with the same girl.

Meanwhile, Raphael tricks Sara into drinking a potion that makes her mute at her trial, which Sevothtarte is presiding over. Sevothtarte changes clothes for the first in the series in honor of the occasion, and also has Raphael say that Sara was pregnant with Setsuna’s baby when she died. I have no idea if that was true or not. Then his assistant, who was being held hostage, reveals her inner badass, breaks free, takes out half the prison, lectures Raphael about womanizing and sends him off to save Sara. I suspect Raphael is starting to fall for Sara, but he’d really be much better off looking closer to home.

Raphael then kisses Sara to remove the poison, causing Sevy to have a puritanical hissy fit in the process. Then Sara makes me very proud of her by defending her incestuous love to all the heavens. I did not just type that.

Then Uriel shows up and helps Zaphikel posthumously pwn Sevothtarte by proxy, adding a bit of his own in for emphasis.

It was a beautiful trial.

Meanwhile, Metatron gets possessed by his evil twin, Sandalphon, who I gather is a tentacle thing and is the fetus Sevy keeps locked in a container in her science room thingie. It kills people. And seems to turn them into tentacle things.  And then declares that Sevy is his mother. Probably from that rape that turned her into a world class misogynist and made her pretend to be a man and take over heaven. I think I actually started to sympathize with her.

No sign of Kurai and Kato. I grow concerned. Kurai is one of my favorites, but I don’t particularly want to like Kato. He seems to be winning me over, though.

Incidentally, while I'm not sure I like the direction the plotline seems to be going, this picture of Raphael and Sara is gorgeous.
