In addition to apparently just going up and down sporadically, LJ still isn't sending comment notifications through e-mail, and they aren't even showing up in my LJ inbox anymore, either.  I don't care to keep track of comments that way as you have to hunt through the thread to see what comment they're replying to (unlike e-mails, which show you in the notification) but at least I could track things that way the last couple days.  i've also seen a couple people mention posts getting eaten.  I really hope this gets sorted out soon.

Meanwhile, Rightstuf's new sale is 30% off most manga and DVDs, and they've extended the blowout sale, with both sales ending 12/7.  the 30% off excludes (so far in my quick search) NetComics, Go!Comics and Udon, but has the bigger publishers (Viz, Tokyopop, Del Rey, CMX, Dark Horse) and Yen.  Between the two sales, I think pretty much all DVDs are included, including YesAsia.  Good way to fill in any odds and ends that need filling.

On that track:  Has anyone seen Soul Taker?  I was looking at it while getting $4 and $5 Le Chevalier d'Eon and Speed Grapher DVDs, but hadn't heard anything about it.

I have also decided that I want to get the last two volumes each of Angel Sanctuary and RG Veda read before going back to work on Friday, as well as finish reading Larklight.  This may not actually be a very good idea.

ETA:  Also, the DVD player is officially dead.  It died with my Lion King dvd trapped within its doomed depths.

ETA 2:  GotAnime membership still applies with Rightstuf's 30% sale, but not with the blowout sale.

That's odd, I've been getting my notifications through email all right.

Thanks for the heads up on the last RightStuf sale, I got some good deals.

I was getting them, but slowly. Now they've dropped off. The two comments to this post are at least in my LJ inbox, though.

I saw the first two or three episodes of Soul Taker and found it totally incomprehensible and excessively dark. Very stylish and trippy animation, though.

There's another series that was produced around the same time as it was, a comedy series, which crosses over with it in v. strange ways (I think several of the characters were supposed to be actors in Soul Taker? or something) but I've forgotten what series that was...

Yeah, it sounded like something that would be either really good...or really not.

Someone just told me what it was - it's Nurse Witch Komugi Chan, and the main character and several other characters are in Soul Taker, except the two series are like complete opposites.

I've been getting notifications on and off, sometimes with a several-hour delay, sometimes not. I've kind of given up at this point.

RightStuf still hasn't sent my copy of SDK 31. I guess it's just holding it hostage. They could have slipped it into the bargain bin blowout order easy, but I guess not. :|

They've sent mine. Maybe its evening it out from when they held my vol 30 hostage for weeks after they sent yours?

I'm just glad it's not only me having trouble. For a while I was wondering if it was my wi-fi being finicky.

Saw Soul Taker. It's dark and abstract, still it has charm in some way. It's about a guy (bad with names u.u") who gets killed by his mother. The shock, and the will to live on changes him into a monster. He gets to know that he got a sister somewhere, so begins to travel looking for her, while everyone wants to hunt him down for his genes.
As writen, it's quite dark, and they show some abstract pictures from religion and what humanity is. For example his ultimate attack makes a big cross as the target explodes in it. I wouldn't say it's an average anime, but I found it interesting.

It sounds like something with an interesting concept that maybe wasn't handled in the best possible way.

That's why I say it's abstract. :) Now you made me nostalgic to watch it again. ^^
Next to that, Nurse Witch Kogumi is the counter of this. That anime sure is a parody of Soul Taker with some magical girl touch, but if you saw Soul Taker before you can't see this Kogumi girl and put '-chan' to her name with confidence. u.u"
