I think LJ went away for a while.  I likely would have been annoyed if I weren't reading about princesses setting off to find heroes who up and went missing while on their quests.

Oh  and learning that Chae Si Ra (my beloved Lady Jami from Emperor of the Sea) is the lead in a new sageuk, Empress Chun Chu:

Also, pictures if you're at soompi.

Pardon my ignorance but I'd like to know how did you that *link to soompi* thing?

Copied the soompi thread address and clicked the little create link icon in rich text and pasted the address.

Yep..I know that but instead of seeing the link, it's a phrase that directs to soompi. I was able to do that back then..I totally forgot now how.

Just highlight the phrase.

*Contains his pet-peeve fed animosity for the guide feather being nocked on the wrong side of the bow because he doesn't know if *whichever Asian culture it is* uses four feathers on their arrows instead of the usual three*

Korean.

It looks like it's cocked on the same side as other sageuks (Korean period drama) have for archery.

I wonder if the Koreans ever figured out why their arrows wouldn't shoot straight...

Sadly this actually looks fairly interesting to me, but I don't think I could ever look at her without wanting to beat her with her bow.

And I just read it's 60+ episodes >.>; Erm, no <.

Tracked down pics from some other sageuks and it looks like 4 arrows, all nocked on the outside. I think the sageuk actors also take lessons before shooting dramas. Korea tends to be very detail-oriented for combat and the arts for them.

But yes, 50-60 episodes is normal for sageuks.

Which is a pity, 'cause it does indeed look interesting (although, that is based almost entirely on the promo poster you posted). I am a large fan of archer heroes, though, and an even larger one of archer heroines (hence why I stuck with Sojourn as long as I did, probably), so it does have that weakness going for it.

Technically, sitting through it isn't much different from 3-3 1/2 seasons of a US TV show, only with subtitles and higher production values.

Unfortunately it's the subtitles bit... I prefer to multi-task while watching TV for more than 1 episode at a time. I think I annoyed a lot of Lina's anime friends by sticking to dubs over subs whenever possible :P (I once endured a two hour lecture on that very subject because I mentioned my preference in passing -- it was kind of impressive, actually)

I tend to have that problem with subtitles myself, which is why I tend to either binge straight through dramas or watch them slowly. With sageuks, though, the visuals tend to be so engaging that I almost forget that it has my undivided attention and that i'm reading subtitles.

I think I'm glad I've never known enough anime fans in RL to get lectured over initially preferring dubs and eventually getting to where I just watch whatever the DVD defaults to, unless I have a specific reason. (Like how Gunlock would rot my brain if it had my full attention.)

Wohoo, Raederle certainly can keep your mind firmly engaged. So looking forward to your review of the Riddlemaster

Yup. I didn't start to get the big deal about the trilogy until the second book. I admit that, while I like Morgon, I find it hard to be interested in him on his own. This is really a problem with the character being uninteresting, but more because I'm reading it 20 years later, and I've read it as the focus so much.
